A tragedy had befallen a young pregnant woman when she lost her unborn baby during an accident in Ohio. The incident involved a truck and two more vehicles.

On Thursday, June 3, 2021, a three-vehicle crash occurred on US 50 in Clermont County near Whitney Drive in Miami Township. The incident is being investigated by the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 26-year-old man was driving a 2019 International CV515 truck at around 9:00 a.m. He crossed the road's visible center line and struck a Honda Civic.

The Honda was traveling in the opposite direction at the time of the incident. After hitting the first car, the truck carried on and struck a Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction.

The truck driver only sustained minor injuries while the Honda driver, a 30-year-old man, left the scene of the accident unscathed. The Chevrolet’s driver was a 29-year-old pregnant woman.

She sadly sustained serious injuries and was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by the Miami Township EMS. Her severe injuries led to the unfortunate death of her unborn child.

The Batavia Post revealed that alcohol and drugs were not suspected factors in the crash. This wasn’t the only vehicle crash involving a pregnant woman in recent months and a few years ago.

In April 2021, Jessi Rate, 30, was left paralyzed from the waist down and was likely never going to walk again after being involved in a car accident. The incident happened in Lindsay, near Highway 35 and River Road.

She ended up having an emergency C-section and gave birth to baby Starlett. Besides the eight-month pregnant Ontario woman, a man in his 50s was also left with critical injuries from the crash.

In February 2017, an 18-year-old pregnant teenager lost her unborn baby after being involved in a crash in Wood County. The crash happened at the SR 281 and SR 199 intersection in Montgomery Township.

The seven months pregnant teenager drove into the path of an oncoming SUV after stopping at the intersection. The SUV’s four women passengers were taken to local hospitals.

Lastly, On June 1, 2021, a 25-year-old pregnant woman lost her baby in another car crash that included a reckless driver. The accident occurred near 27th and Highland in Milwaukee.

The reckless driver was being chased by police concerning a domestic violence incident when he lost control and crashed into the six-month pregnant woman. Everyone injured was taken to the hospital for treatment.
