Man Pets a Stranger's Dog and Makes Unexpected Move
A homeowner’s CCTV captured footage of a stranger leaning into a fence and petting a dog roaming free on the front lawn. However, his shocking intentions were made clear after he stole something.
Often, CCTV footage captures the weirdest and funniest moments, but one homeowner was shocked to find a stranger petting his dog before making a shocking move.
In a viral Reddit video, a man dressed in a heavy jacket tried to pet a big dog behind a low-gated home. The big furry animal, wearing a white shirt, looked happy to have found a friend and quickly leaned toward the stranger.

THE UNEXPECTED MOVE
As the man continued to pet the dog, the canine jumped up and sweetly tried to lick the stranger’s face. However, the man had an ulterior motive and slowly undressed the shirt off the dog.
When he finally got the white top, the man stole it and walked away, leaving the dog quite confused. The post attracted several comments from the Reddit community, most in disbelief.
“If somebody needs a shirt bad enough to steal it from a dog, I would let them have it,” one user wrote. “I’m just glad he didn’t steal the dog,” another added.

MORE TO THE STORY
However, like any post on social media, there is more to the story than what is shown. According to one Reddit user, the entire video, beyond what is posted, reveals the story of why the man got the shirt.
The dog’s owner was reportedly not home when it rained that day. “The first guy removed the shirt,” he said. “Then a woman came with her husband and kid and gave the dog a new red shirt.”
Meanwhile, other users believe that the stranger is still a thief since his actions were in no way related to the family who gave the dog a new shirt to wear.
DOG ROBBERIES
Since some dogs come at a high price, the furry animals may be a target to thieves. Previously, a dog, Pip, was stolen in broad daylight from his four-year-old owner, Olivia Lippert.
Pip, a toy poodle, was stolen by a woman who wanted to pet him under Olivia’s watch. Later that week, a good samaritan, who had seen the missing dog flyers the Lipperts posted, saw Pip being sold outside a McDonald’s store.
The woman called Olivia’s father and asked him if she should buy the puppy and be reimbursed. Fortunately, Pip was safely returned to Olivia’s arms, and the family took extra measures to make sure he was never stolen again.
Earlier this year, Lady Gaga also became a victim of dog robbery after gunmen took her two French Bulldogs. The “Star is Born” actress reportedly offered a $500,000 reward to anyone who could provide information about her fur babies.
Fortunately, the singer was reunited with her stolen pets after a woman returned them to a police station. Unfortunately, Lady Gaga’s dog walker was severely injured and had to recover from the incident.
