Woman Left in Tears after Man on Subway Shows Her a Portrait of Herself He Made Secretly
A TikTok user has gone viral since sharing a video of his remarkable act of kindness that moved a woman to tears. His sweet gesture has inspired many to use their gifts for good.
No location is too bizarre to perform a remarkable deed that could put a smile on someone’s face or move them to tears, as the case may be. TikToker Devon Rodriguez proved that in his now-viral video.
The footage showed the man, who is a professional artist, observing a woman seated across from him on a New York City subway, wearing a nose mask.

The 25-year-old then took out a paper and pencil and began drawing the subway passenger who was focused on reading her book.
The fast-forwarded video captured the young man replicating the woman’s face in detail from scratch, using only his graphite pencil and some top-notch shading technique. After completing his painting, Rodriguez called for the woman’s attention, saying:
“Excuse me miss, I drew you. I did this drawing of you.”
With that, he handed the artwork to the woman, who stared in disbelief. Her expression immediately turned somber as the tears welled up in her eyes. Overcome with emotion, the subway passenger clenched her palm over her mouth before bursting into tears as she rose to her feet.
The artist, perhaps confused by her emotions, kept asking the woman if she was okay. Realization soon dawned on him that she was beyond okay, and was simply shedding tears of joy and gratitude because he made her day. Rodriguez captioned:
“You never know when someone is in need of an act of kindness. Let’s all do something kind for a stranger today.”

The kind man’s remarkable deed quickly garnered over 12 million views and thousands of comments. Several netizens have praised the talented artist for using his gifts to put smiles on people’s faces.
Another TikTok user tried analyzing the woman’s feelings, saying Rodriguez’s picture made her feel visible again just when she began believing she was invisible and didn’t exist anymore.

Others expressed gratitude to the artist for giving the woman the priceless gift of feeling worthy, seen, and loved. One commented:
“Knowing at that moment that someone felt she was worthy of being a beautiful piece of art… priceless. Thank you for giving her this moment.”
However, many commenters believed the tear-jerking moment was staged, especially as he was able to complete such an impressive drawing during the short subway ride.

Despite the doubtful comments flooding the post, most users were simply glad Rodriguez thought it fit to touch a person’s life deeply, thereby inspiring others to do the same.
