The son of Hollywood legend Tom Hanks recently appeared on fellow acting icon Drew Barrymore's talk show. While their conversation was interesting, netizens diverted their focus elsewhere.

During the lively interview segment, Chet sat comfortably on the couch, flanked by Drew on one side and a relaxed-looking dog on the other, which he affectionately petted. Dressed in a casual light-colored polo shirt with dark pants, Chet rocked a bald look and tattooed arms — his laid-back demeanor complementing his confident energy.

Drew, wearing a tan suit with a striped tie, reacted with wide-eyed enthusiasm when Chet shared a surprising revelation, "This is my first time on a talk show ever." The audience erupted into cheers as Drew reacted with shock.

Building off the excitement, Chet asked Drew for permission to do something he had "always wanted to do." With a playful smile, she gave him the go-ahead, unknowingly setting the stage for an unexpected moment.

Turning to the audience, Chet hyped them up, insisting that their cheers were essential for what he was about to do.

What followed was a high-energy stunt. On the count of three, Chet climbed onto the couch, arms raised triumphantly as he hyped up the cheering crowd.

He then leaped down, landing in a dramatic crouch before pounding his fist into the floor — a move reminiscent of a certain action star's grand entrance on a different talk show.

Without missing a beat, he rushed back to Drew, interlocked his hands with hers, and let out an excited scream in her face, which she gleefully reciprocated.

Afterward, Chet Hanks laughed and asked the audience, "Did you guys get the reference?" Drew, still catching her breath, correctly guessed, "Tom Cruise!" — a nod to the actor's famously over-the-top couch-jumping moment on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Giggling, she praised the impression, saying, "Oh, I love it!"

Following the interview, netizens had plenty to say about Chet's animated antics on "The Drew Barrymore Show." While some viewers found his high-energy actions cringe-worthy, others couldn't help but focus on his connection — or lack thereof — to his famous father.

"I refuse to believe that Tom is his father," one person bluntly stated, echoing a sentiment many seemed to share. Another viewer reacted similarly, writing, "Lmao 🤣 i can't believe that is Tom hanks son [sic]."

Beyond his resemblance, some users took issue with his over-the-top behavior. "He didn't get enough attention growing up? That was lowkey embarrassing," someone critiqued, while another focused on Drew's reaction, observing, "Drew seemed so nervous...like what is bro about to do."

However, others defended Chet's exuberance, pointing out that celebrities are expected to bring excitement to talk show appearances. One supporter reasoned that his actions weren't unusual, stating that stars are meant to have big personalities and be entertaining.

Meanwhile, a few online commentators were more preoccupied with the logistics of his stunt. One person admitted that their first thought was about the pristine show set furniture, wondering if he had just put his dirty shoes on the white couch.

Amid the mixed reactions, some fans came to Chet's defense, expressing confusion over why people seemed surprised by his lineage. "I do not why [sic] people are so surprised about who Chet's father is. He is adorable like his father and brothers are. ❤️," penned an admirer.

Regardless of the opinions swirling around, Chet's debut talk show appearance undeniably made an impression — proving that, whether for his energy, resemblance (or lack thereof) to Tom, or unexpected theatrics, he knows how to keep audiences talking.

Interestingly, while many viewers can't see the resemblance between Chet and his famous father, online commentary from 2023 reflects otherwise.

Back then, after Chet had shared a rare father-son photo of him and Tom sitting next to each other in an establishment, many netizens marveled at how similar the duo looked to one another.

While Tom adorned a black beanie, clear specs framing his blue eyes, and a green jacket, his son rocked an LA cap, a white shirt, and a blue jacket. Chet's caption included a slang word colloquially used to indicate a close bond between people.

When netizens saw Chet's picture, many marveled at how closely the dad and son resemble each other and dubbed Chet Tom's "twin." Another fan said that Chet has his father's "eyes," while someone else reiterated, "Your twin ❤️."

Although the aforementioned fans may have thought that Tom and Chet resemble each other so much that someone implied that they could be brothers, the pair are different in other ways. Chet is quite a colorful character and has an affinity for Jamaican culture.

The actor and rapper went viral in 2020 after speaking Patois (a nonstandard version of speech typically associated with Jamacains) during an interview at the Golden Globes.

Even though most people interpreted the gesture as cultural appropriation, Chet said that he had Jamaicans who sent him messages saying they respected what he did. He expressed, "The Jamaican people showed me the most love hands down."

Another way Chet is different from Tom is their personality traits. Chet said his dad and his mom, Rita Wilson, tend to be reserved do-gooders. However, the unapologetic and expressive actor confirmed he wouldn't trade them for any other parents.
