Widow Cries at Restaurant Remembering Her Husband, but a Stranger Approaches Her with Flowers
When Juanita began crying in a restaurant with her friend, she didn’t expect a stranger to turn her day around. A lady approached her to give flowers, not knowing Juanita’s husband just passed away.
Being kind to strangers doesn’t come at a hefty price; for one lady, it cost around $40. The generous person’s name is Kylie, a young woman who happened to see Juanita in tears.
The incident happened in September 2020, shortly after Juanita’s husband succumbed to a longtime illness and met his creator. Juanita decided to meet up with her longtime friend, Brenda Collins, for breakfast and seek comfort in her.

“As I asked Juanita how she had really been going, she immediately began to weep as she told me all the things she missed about her wonderful husband of 54 years,” Brenda shared.
Brenda reached out to hold Juanita’s hand, and both women began to cry as they felt the pain of grieving. Suddenly, a woman approached their table and apologized for interrupting the conversation. She said:
“I don’t know you, but I was just driving past and saw you crying, so I wanted to buy you these flowers to bring a smile to your face.”
The lady handed Juanita a pink bouquet which brought her to tears even more. When Brenda told the stranger about Juanita’s husband, she reached out to Juanita and gave her a tight embrace.
Brenda detailed what had happened in a Facebook post and encouraged others to show kindness and compassion to everyone, especially clearly struggling ones.
Although in tears, Juanita wanted to know the name of the woman who brightened Juanita’s day. Her name was Kylie.
Kylie may have spent around $40 to show such kindness, but her simple gesture was more than money could buy -- especially for Juanita. Brenda shared:
“Juanita and I spent the rest of our time together exchanging stories where we had been blessed by simple acts of kindness from random strangers that have never left our hearts and minds.”
Brenda detailed what had happened in a Facebook post and encouraged others to show kindness and compassion to everyone, especially clearly struggling ones.
“In a world where you can be anything, be kind,” she wrote. Brenda’s post attracted comments from people touched by the story. Many among them also reached out to Juanita to show support and hoped she was doing better.
Hearing stories about people showing kindness to others gives one hope for humanity amidst a difficult time. Recently, another act of kindness made rounds on the internet after a woman agreed to buy a stranger lunch.
It turned out that the stranger was conducting a social experiment, so when the woman lent a helping hand during his time of need, she was instantly rewarded.
Such stories have and continue to inspire others to touch the lives of those around them in the smallest or most significant way.
