Deaf Toddler Hears Parents' Voices for the First Time and Her Incredible Reaction Goes Viral
When A’deja Rivers heard her mother’s voice for the first time, the toddler brought tears to her family’s eyes as everyone celebrated a new beginning for the child.
Being born with a disability is undoubtedly difficult, but some conditions can be solved thanks to today’s advanced technology.
Such was the case for little A’deja Rivers, who was born deaf and lived in silence for a year. The adorable little girl never heard the sound of her mother’s voice, but one day, everything changed.

A’deja underwent a cochlear implant surgery that restored her hearing. The emotional video of the toddler hearing for the first time made rounds on the internet and went viral.
The clip showed the implants being activated and A’deja hearing her mom, Patricia Shaw, say “I love you” as the little one sat on her lap.
It was a magical moment for A’deja’s family, who were all in the room to support and witness the power of technology. Some of them were even brought to tears.

The one-year-old looked quite stunned being able to play with musical instruments and hearing them produce sound. “Hi, I love you, baby. I love you so much,” Shaw told her daughter.
Hearing loss may slow down a child’s learning ability and even cause discrimination, among other things. Such was the experience of a TikTok user who was refused service for being deaf.
“To know that she heard me say, ‘I love you,’ and might have seen my mouth moving, but the first time she heard me say it, and her eyes lit up, it was a complete blessing,” Shaw shared.
A’deja is among the many kids who captured viewers’ hearts after being filmed hearing for the first time. In 2018, four-month-old Charlotte Keane had an emotional reaction after hearing her mother’s voice for the first time.
The little one made the cutest pout that had the internet shedding tears of joy for their family. In 2019, another four-month-old, Georgina Addison, went viral after reacting to her parents’ voice.
Georgina, who had hearing aids to help, smiled and made different sounds of happiness as soon as she was able to hear. “We’ve never seen her turn towards sound,” her mom shared. “It was just brilliant.”

According to the woman, employees at Dunkin’ Donuts did not want to take her order because she couldn’t hear them. It turned out that the woman had forgotten her cochlear implant and attempted to explain her story.
However, even the manager refused to communicate with the woman and write down his responses for her to read. The incident brought the woman to tears as she narrated the whole story on TikTok.
