A school janitor’s priceless reaction after some students teamed up to gift him with a new truck is warming hearts on the internet. The clip of the sweet moment has gained traction since it was first shared on social media.

The video showed two students flanking the janitor, Mr. Joe, on both sides as they led him blindfolded to the front of the school building.

Upon reaching their destination, one of the students proceeded to undo his blindfold; the other began expressing how grateful they were for the janitor’s help and hard work since they enrolled at the institution.

He also revealed they knew he had been trekking to school in the last four years, which prompted them to unite to present him a token. Once the blindfold came off, the students urged him forward, where a shiny white truck lay in wait. Unable to believe his luck, the man exclaimed:

“O my God! What is that?”

The students gave him the confirmation he needed, saying the car belonged to him, so he never had to walk to school again. The janitor was filled with conflicting emotions as he made his way to the awaiting vehicle in disbelief and got into the driver’s seat.

He then explained how he could not wait for his wife to see the new car before breaking down completely, shielding his face with both palms.

The students kept telling him he deserved the grand gesture, having helped them a lot in the last four years, adding that all the students loved him.

Many marveled at how compassionate the students were to have noticed the janitor’s plight and worked to come up with a solution. A comment read:

“It is just simply amazing that today’s teenagers would notice, take the time, and do something so special for someone. This is so wonderful.”

However, some netizens believed there were a dozen other ways to have assisted the janitor, which would be more appreciated. To them, tackling the root cause of his inability to afford a car by getting society to pay him better wages would have been more beneficial.

Most implied the car was more of a burden to the janitor given the extra expenses like taxes and insurance he would incur from having one. One wrote:

“I don’t mean to be negative, but my first thought was, I wonder if he can afford the gas… And the maintenance. A car isn’t just the cost to buy it.”

Others insisted the video was staged, noting that the students in question looked way older than typical high school kids. Notwithstanding, waking up to such heartwarming stories went a long way in proving there was still good in the world, thereby restoring one’s faith in humanity.
