Battling sickness, especially life-threatening health conditions, can be a daunting task. However, the pain becomes even more intense when parents have to see their children suffer and fight for their life, owing to fatal diseases like cancer.

Kennith Allen Thomas, a choreographer, dancer, and owner of the Level Dance Complex in Pennsauken, underwent the same experience with his youngest son, Kristian, who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Thomas lived with his wife and four kids in Merchantville, New Jersey. His 15-month-old son was born with Down Syndrome and had stayed in the NICU for 10 days after his birth. Kristian also had a blood disorder and suffered from low platelet levels.

In May 2018, Thomas contacted a hematologist, who directed him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The doctors at CHOP then examined Kristian and found two abnormal cells which corresponded to the development of leukemia.

On June 19th, the doctors confirmed that Kristian was suffering from AMKL Leukemia. Thomas shared how damaging the revelation was for him and his wife. Nonetheless, he had to act timely and be strong.

Over the next few months, Thomas struggled financially, as Kristian's treatment required huge sums of money. He then decided to design T-shirts with the hashtag #FIGHTKRISTIAN, and began selling them on social media. He shared:

"Once we put it out and let everyone know about our situation, the outpouring of love and prayers was amazing. People started purchasing shirts and just donating to help us."

But the one thing he longed for was dancing. Staying with his son in the hospital meant he couldn't go to his dance studio. Thomas then thought of a brilliant idea to release his stress and started dancing next to Kristian in the hospital.

The hospital dance sessions became therapeutic for both him and his son. He also noticed how Kristian began getting stronger and the way his face lit up every time he saw his daddy dance. Eventually, the doctors said he could go home. Thomas said:

"On that day we heard the song by Ciara "Level Up." So, I decided to dance celebrating our sons levels going up (sic)."

Since then, Thomas and his wife have tried their level best to become pillars of strength for their son, their other kids, and even families out there battling life-threatening health conditions.

Ever since the hospital dance, Thomas and Kristian began engaging in their feel-good dance sessions. They even celebrated being 11 months cancer-free and shared the adorable video on Instagram.

In a recent dance video shared in early October this year, the daddy son duo could be seen showing their moves as their faces beamed with sheer joy.

Undoubtedly, Kristian and Thomas are inspiring the world to stay strong in the face of adversity, spreading the message of hope and positivity.
