Actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke has been married twice but has been part of three wedding ceremonies. He and his current wife, Arlene Silver, had two very particular weddings.

Love comes in all shapes, forms, and in Dick Van Dyke's case, ages, as he is currently married to a professional makeup artist over four decades younger than him.

The lucky one is Arlene Silver, and their love story is one of a kind. However, their two wedding ceremonies made headlines, especially for her unusual wardrobe in the first and hula hooping in the second.

VAN DYKE'S PARTNERS

Although Van Dyke's career has been nothing short of remarkable, his personal life and the fact that he knows how to keep long-lasting relationships in Hollywood have attracted much attention.

The "Dick Van Dyke Show" star was first married to Margerie Willett for 36 years. They tied the knot in 1948 and officially divorced in 1984. With Willett, Van Dyke had four children.

Van Dyke's second longtime partner was Michelle Triola. While they were never married, they lived together for over three decades, and only death did them part (she passed away in 2009).

Three years before Triola died, Van Dyke met Silver. When he attended the 2006 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Silver was in charge of doing his makeup.

He approached her at the event's green room and introduced himself, but she didn't know much of his work. The first thing Silver asked was if Van Dyke appeared in "Mary Poppins."

The actor eventually hired Silver as the makeup girl for some of his projects. The two developed a great friendship during that time, so she never felt that he was much older when things became romantic.

He joked that she was mature for her age, and he was immature for his age, so it was balanced.

VAN DYKE AND SILVER'S RELATIONSHIP

In 2011, two years after Triola died of lung cancer at age 76, Van Dyke and Silver started dating. In February 2012, they walked down the aisle for the first time in a low-key wedding.

The small ceremony was held at a chapel close to Van Dyke's home in Malibu, and the fact that Silver decided to wear a fuchsia Anthropologie dress and a matching flower in her hair instead of the classic white gown was surprising.

In the actor's case, he opted for a black suit and silver tie. His publicist revealed that most people liked Silver a lot, and despite their huge age difference, she made him happy and brought "light" into his life.

Van Dyke himself gushed about Silver by saying that marrying her was one of the smartest moves in his life. He joked that she was mature for her age, and he was immature for his age, so it was balanced.

Judging by Silver's comments on interviews and social media, she is just as thrilled to be Van Dyke's wife. She once described him as the prince of their fairytale love story and a person who never lost the "wonder of a child."

The professional makeup artists admitted that they focused on enjoying each other's company and having fun. After claiming that he was immature in a good way, she added:

"He's not stuck in his ways at all. We're both like children. We feel like we're both having a second childhood."

THEIR SECOND WEDDING

In September 2012, less than seven months after saying "I do" for the first time, Silver and Van Dyke threw a more lavish wedding. Instead of a colorful dress, the bride chose a white gown for her seafoam circus-themed ceremony.

The one wearing something out of the ordinary was Van Dyke, who put on a beige suit with a pale blue tie. At some point during the reception, Silver was pictured hula hooping!

It's been almost ten years since Silver and Van Dyke got married, and they are still going strong. He revealed in 2020 that she was a delightful and patient woman who gave him a "third life."

Earlier in 2021, he and Silver were spotted leaving a fitness class in Malibu, so it seems like they are really all about enjoying each other's company as much as possible. What a lovely couple!
