With a few unfiltered words and a striking prop, the veteran actress signals she's almost ready to step away from the spotlight, but she's not leaving quietly.

In a striking interview published on July 26, 2025, Jamie Lee Curtis said she has spent decades arranging to exit Hollywood on her own terms. The actress also delivered a fierce critique of cosmetic surgery and beauty filters, warning about the artificial standards promoted by the entertainment and tech industries.

Jamie sat down with Emma Brockes for The Guardian via video link to promote her upcoming film "Freakier Friday," which also stars Lindsay Lohan and Chad Michael Murray.

During the conversation, the actress revealed how being in this sequel to the 2003 hit came with some difficulties, particularly with the concept of "pretty," which she has never liked even as a young starlet.

This is because of what happened to her extremely famous parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, who lost their popularity as they aged. "I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone. And that's very painful," the actress shared.

As such, Jamie has been slowly making her exit from acting for the past three decades. "I have been prepping to get out, so that I don't have to suffer the same as my family did. I want to leave the party before I'm no longer invited," she assured.

Although she was allowed to keep her gray hair for the new movie, it was still styled differently with a longer and softer finish.

Jamie explained that trying to "look pretty" for this movie and watching out for things like the right lighting and clothes was much harder than her other recent roles, like Donna Berzatto in "The Bear." Still, she let Disney make the styling choices, which turned her into a "zany-but-still-kinda-hot grandma."

Jamie certainly looks youthful and whimsical in the photoshoot accompanying this interview, in which she wore an exaggerated set of red wax lips, which she referred to as her "statement against plastic surgery," in an email before the meeting with Brockes.

Additionally, the actress clarified that she hasn't been afraid to speak out "about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who've disfigured themselves."

While many may say the term "genocide" is too harsh, Jamie has called it so for a long time because she believes society has gotten rid of how people naturally look for the past generation or two.

She also accused artificial intelligence of helping with the "disfigurement of generations," particularly for women, because now everyone wants a face that looks like a filter.

While applying this technology might initially make a face seem "better," the actress insisted that this idea of "better" was "fake." Jamie also noted that there have been numerous recent examples of that type of fakeness in the media, though she chose not to name specific individuals.

It is that same unapologetic spirit that was on full display months earlier at the 2025 SAG Awards. On February 23, Jamie defied expectations through an outfit that left fans and critics divided. Some called it a masterpiece, while others had quite a different take.

The actress, known for her iconic role in "Halloween," arrived at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall wearing a bold black gown. The ensemble featured a sequined bottom paired with a dramatic feathered top that extended into voluminous sleeves.

Keeping her accessories at a minimum, Jamie opted for silver and black stud earrings. Her makeup complemented the look with glowing skin, long lashes, and a soft nude lip. The sleek styling allowed her statement outfit to take center stage.

Her daring fashion choice sparked mixed reactions online. Some critics compared the look to a bird-like appearance. One person commented, "Looks like some strange bird." Another added, "Wow… she has a big black bird on her neck!!" A third joked, "Was this actually a Halloween party?" while someone else remarked, "She looks like a raven."

More admirers chimed in, with one fan saying, "You're glowing, sweetheart 🤩." Another declared, "You're stealing the show," while someone else simply commented, "Great look."

Jamie's fearless approach to fashion once again made her a standout on the red carpet, proving she remains a style icon at 66. But her bold fashion wasn't the only highlight of the night.

Jamie embraced the moment with her signature humor and grace, sharing a selfie on social media in her feathered ensemble. She captioned it, "I love my @lastshowgirl family! Birds of a feather......."

Though Jamie didn't take home the award — Saldaña claimed the honor — she remained one of the most talked-about stars of the evening.

Beyond the red carpet, Jamie brought her wit to the stage while presenting the award for Best Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series. Handing the honor to Colin Farrell for his performance in "The Penguin," she introduced him with a playful jab, "The man who gave me COVID at the Golden Globes, Colin Farrell."

The audience erupted in laughter as Farrell took the joke in stride. "Guilty as charged," he quipped while hugging Jamie. The actor then added that he had caught it from his "Banshees of Inisherin" co-star Brendan Gleeson, joking, "So I was just spreading the love."
