Joe Lando of 'Dr. Quinn' Fell for Jane Seymour during Breakup with His Future Wife of 24 Years
Joe Lando and Kirsten Barlow have been married for 24 years; however, before they got married, the pair had an on-and-off relationship, which led to a short-lived romance between the actor and his co-star, Jane Seymour.
Hollywood has played host to some of the sweetest romances between stars. Still, other times, these icons tend to share complicated relationships such as "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" stars Jane Seymour and Joe Lando.
The pair were two of the show's best actors, leaving many glued to their screens. However, their complicated relationship saw them go from lovers to enemies to friends that made the headlines.

Today, Lando is happily married to his wife of 24 years, Kirsten Barlow, and the pair have the former's breakup with Seymour to thank. Here is everything to know about the controversy surrounding Lando and his relationships.
LANDO'S ON-AND-OFF RELATIONSHIP
Joe Lando and Kirsten Barlow are one of the most inspiring celebrity couples. The lovebirds first encountered each other while Lando worked in a restaurant.
Shortly after their first meeting, they began dating, and after years of being together, the couple moved to Arizona. Throughout the early stages of their romance, Lando kept the relationship a secret.

He went along with the "single" tag for a while, shedding more light on the type of woman he envisioned settling down with. Finally, in 1993, the actor revealed that he would settle down with a wise woman. He also added:
"I like women who are better educated than myself, and are more worldly."
Lando and Barlow were in an on-and-off relationship for five years, but in due time, he went public with his relationship status.

However, the actor withheld his girlfriend's name, calling her a "former grammar school teacher." He said, that way, fans barely recognized him except when he was wearing Sully's trademark buckskins, adding:
"I walk down the street with my sunglasses on and a baseball cap. I have my job, and then I have my real life."

LANDO AND SEYMOUR'S FLING
Lando and Barlow's relationship seems beautiful, but it was not always rosy. Not only did they have an on and off relationship between 1990-1995, but the actor also had a fling with co-star Jane Seymour within that period.
Seymour and Lando met in 1992 while filming the pilot episode of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." Seymour mentioned there was a real flash flood that caused her car to be swept backward.
She could not get out of her vehicle because the person driving was an intern and did not want her out of it. She recalled winding down the window and jumping out of her car into Lando's truck. The Hollywood stars started dating after the incident.

The actress had just separated from her third husband, David Flynn, and Lando was also single. The movie stars were supposedly in love, but after dating for a few weeks, the relationship ended.
Seymour had traveled to Arizona to shoot a movie directed by James Keach, while Lando toured the Southwest to research his role in "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." The actor told People:
"By the time I got back, she was in love with James, and the rest is history."

Lando bore no grudge against Seymour and was present at her 1993 wedding with Keach. The former lovers are still friends and connect from time to time.
LANDO'S WEDDING WAS CRITICIZED
After Lando and Seymour's romance ended, the actor worked on his relationship with Barlow. In 1997, they eventually tied the knot, but sadly, Seymour was not invited to the ceremony, which led to Lando and Barlow catching flak from the tabloids.
Apparently, the reason for their decision was due to Lando and his co-star's love history. While Seymour played Dr. Michaela Quinn in "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," Lando portrayed her character's love interest, Byron Sully.

However, while there was nothing but love between the pair's on-screen characters, it was difficult for them to get along off the set. Seymour and Lando, who were once in love, had to deal with an awkward post-breakup.
In a chat with Us Weekly, the actress said they loved each other, but they could not be together in real life. So instead, the pair just focused on playing Michaela and Sully. The Hollywood star also stated:
"We didn't actually talk to each other, other than in dialogue or making out for about six or seven years."

Seymour made it known that it was a difficult time. The pair have since moved on and are focused on their personal lives. Lando pays rapt attention to his wife of over two decades and their four children — Jack Neville, Christian Antonio, Kate Elizabeth, and William Joseph.
The actor and his wife keep their relationship and life private, as they are hardly seen with their children in public.

SEYMOUR'S DEVASTATING FOURTH MARRIAGE
On the other hand, Seymour has only her children to worry about, as her marriage with Keach ended years ago. They got married in 1993, and after 20 years, the union collapsed, leaving Seymour heartbroken.
It was alleged that Keach was involved in extramarital affairs, but Seymour did not believe the rumors until she found out herself.

She dealt with her husband's infidelity, but it was worse because Seymour was familiar with Keach's mistress. In an interview with Daily Mail, Seymour said:
"I thought we were going to be married forever, but James made a choice that I wasn't privy to. I felt horrible, devastated."

She further revealed that when she eventually found out, it had been happening for a while. That got her frightened and she was done.
Seymour and Keach finalized their divorce in 2015. Although the actress is unmarried, she is loved by her fans and children, Katherine Flynn, John Stacy, Kristopher Steven, and Sean Flynn.
