Leonardo Dicaprio Opens up About How He Really Feels Approaching 50
The movie star does not want to waste time as he grows older and now prefers being as honest and upfront as possible — a trait he says he learned from his mother.
Leonardo DiCaprio, who has often been linked to younger women, is now 50 years old. In a recent interview, he gave an eyebrow-raising answer when asked about his age.

When asked how old he is, the actor replied, "Thirty-two." When questioned about whether this stage of life is a natural time for reflection, he added, "'You turned emotionally thirty-five last year.'"
The Hollywood veteran further explained, "Well, it creates a feeling like you have a desire to just be more honest and not waste your time. I can only imagine how the next few decades are going to progress."

DiCaprio noted that his mother always speaks her mind without pretenses. "She spends no time trying to fake it," he shared. For him, it is about more than avoiding a façade.
"Being more upfront and risking having things fall apart or risking the disagreements or risking going your separate ways from any type of relationship in life — the personal, professional — it's that you just don't want to waste your time anymore. You have to just be much more upfront," DiCaprio explained. He views this as a responsibility, especially when more of one's life is behind them than ahead.

As the Academy Award winner reflected on aging, his love life — often a topic of public interest — remained under scrutiny because of his history of dating younger women.
DiCaprio is currently dating 27-year-old Italian fashion model Vittoria Ceretti, who prefers to keep the details of their relationship private. In a March 2025 interview, she revealed only that they met in Milan.
However, she was willing to share her thoughts on his work. Asked if she had watched "Titanic" as a teenager, she said yes, calling it an "iconic film."
The Vogue cover star also addressed whether being labeled "a girlfriend of" despite her modeling success felt limiting. "Yes. As soon as you're in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become 'girlfriend of' — or 'boyfriend of,' for that matter. And that can be extremely annoying," she explained.
Ceretti added that labels often evolve into being referred to as "so-and-so's girlfriend who was so-and-so's ex." She finds such descriptions frustrating because they make it seem as though one cannot be romantically involved with whomever they choose without being defined by past relationships.
Ceretti is not the only model DiCaprio has dated. Over the years, a clear pattern has emerged in his relationships, with many ending when his partner turned 25 years old.
In 2000, when he was 26, DiCaprio began dating Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen, then 20, and the pair stayed together until she turned 25. A few years later, at 31, he was in a relationship with Israeli model Bar Refaeli, also 20 at the time, but their romance ended in much the same way when she reached 25.
Years later, at 39, the actor was linked to German model Toni Garrn, then 21. Their relationship lasted a year before they parted ways, briefly reunited, and ultimately ended things for good in 2017 — again, when she was 25.

His most recent long-term romance before Ceretti began when he was 43, with American model and actress Camila Morrone, then 20. True to the familiar pattern, they split in 2022 when she turned 25.
DiCaprio's reflections on honesty and aging reveal a personal shift in how he values his time and relationships. Influenced by his mother’s straightforward nature, he now prioritizes authenticity over preserving appearances.
His dating history, particularly with younger partners, has long attracted public attention and speculation. With his current relationship, DiCaprio appears intent on keeping certain aspects of his personal life away from the spotlight.
