Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and Jennifer Lopez Wear Show-Stopping Looks at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding — Photos
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's massive New York wedding featured hundreds of famous faces, but a closer look at three specific outfits reveals a surprising fashion divide.
The star-studded event brought roughly one thousand guests together to celebrate the couple's nuptials in the heart of the city. Out of the massive crowd, we chose to focus on three distinct style directions.
Each look highlights a different approach to formal wear, from classic metallics to controversial colors. These specific selections show how public commentary can shift from glowing praise to intense debate.
With so many major names in attendance, analyzing every single outfit would be nearly impossible. We selected three unique ensembles to examine the fascinating range of modern wedding guest styling.
Selena Gomez Leaned Into Old Hollywood Elegance
Pop star Selena Gomez arrived looking like an absolute vision from the golden age of cinema. Her stunning style choices instantly set the internet ablaze with mixed reactions.
She walked in wearing a form-fitting, column-style champagne gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. The entire piece was intricately encrusted with thousands of shimmering crystals and gold beads.
The dress featured a classic scoop neckline, delicate shoulder straps, and a dramatic fringe hem. To complement the look, her hair was styled into a polished, retro-inspired faux-bob.
She completed her look with diamond teardrop earrings, metallic gold pumps, and a nude manicure. Fans rushed to the comment section on a pop culture Facebook post to share their thoughts.
One person wrote, "Is she expecting? Not throwing shade, she looks awesome, but it almost looks like she's early pregnant. Anyone else see it or am i crazy?"
Others focused purely on her beauty, with a commenter stating, "In my opinion, you will outshine the bride any day," while another added she was "Absolutely stunning in gold 💃."
Over on another Instagram thread, the praise continued to roll in. A fan exclaimed, "Wooow! So gorgeous!!! Elegant! Perfect dress for T&T [wedding]!! 🔥🔥💯."
Another observer noted her look was "So perfectly gorgeous. Tasteful, elegant, and not trying to be over the top like some of the dresses I've seen!"
One person gushed, "I am obsessed with this Dress!! The color, the style, everything about it is perfect!!!" Meanwhile, a fan offered their critique, noting, "Nice, simple and clean look. Could have worn a matching necklace with earrings too. The hair nice and makeup too."
Gigi Hadid Opted for Shimmering Romance
Supermodel Gigi Hadid opted for a completely different vibe, bringing playful romance to the city. Her monochromatic pink look was styled beautifully by Elizabeth Sulcer.
She wore a vibrant bubblegum pink slip-style "Maggie" gown by Wiederhoeft. The eye-catching material featured a metallic shimmer woven with ultra-fine, iridescent glitter.
The slip-style silhouette featured a romantic cowl neckline and delicate spaghetti straps, while the glittering metallic fabric reflected the light with every movement.
Her hair was a major talking point, styled into what her team called a Soft Serve blowout. The look featured an extreme side part with massive volume at the root.
Her makeup included shimmering rose-gold eyeshadow, bright pink blush, and a satin-finish lip. She accessorized with a diamond tennis necklace featuring a massive pink diamond pendant.
On a popular lifestyle Facebook page, fans debated the look's appropriateness. One user teased, "When the guest outshines the bride 😂," while another wrote, "Wow I love that dress, she looks great, best dressed IMO 😊👏👏👏."
Not everyone was sold, however, as one commenter described her as "Looking a little overblown." Still, others loved the jewelry, commenting, "Love the diamond necklace with a pink 🩷 pear shape diamond in the middle....She looks stunning!"
On a viral Reddit thread, fans crowned it a historic success. A fan wrote, "Wow she looks stunning. I always thought she was really pretty - this is, imo, her best look ever."
Others agreed, calling it the "Perfect shade of shimmery pink." One passionate user joked, "I'm so sorry but you cant show up looking this flawless as a wedding guest. It's diabolical 🤣," while another wrote, "best dress i've seen all year."
Jennifer Lopez Made a Bold Monochrome Statement
The biggest controversy of the evening belonged to multi-hyphenate superstar Jennifer Lopez. Her choice of attire left many wedding purists completely flabbergasted.
She chose a dramatic, monochromatic black gown from designer Bach Mai. The drop-waist outfit featured a corset-style top made of rich, matte black velvet.
The skirt transitioned into a voluminous, structured bubble skirt with a high-shine finish. She shared images of the look on her Instagram feed with a simple champagne glass emoji caption.
She kept her hair minimalist, slicking it back into an updo with a black headband. Her look was finalized with a diamond statement necklace, a satin clutch, and platform heels.
Critics on a Page Six Facebook post immediately questioned her choice to wear black velvet in July. One user asked, "Who wears black velvet in July, especially during a heat wave?"
Others left sarcastic remarks like "Black for a summer wedding 😉" and "Going to a funeral??" Another person focused entirely on the fit, asking, "Why so tight on top?"
The critical feedback continued over on a People Magazine Facebook thread. A skeptical fan asked, "Is she trying to out shine the bride??"
Superstitions were also raised, with one user noting, "Bad luck to wear black to a wedding..." Another practical observer added, "Pretty dress but looks heavy & velvet. Not for a 'summer' wedding."
Navigating Summer Style Rules
The reactions to Lopez's outfit revives a question that has divided wedding guests for years: Is wearing black to a wedding still considered inappropriate?
According to a November 2025 etiquette guide published by Vogue, the tradition dates back to the Victorian era, when black clothing was closely associated with mourning.

Because people observing mourning customs generally avoided celebrations, black gradually became viewed as an unsuitable color for weddings. Fashion etiquette has evolved considerably since then.
Bridal stylist Anny Choi told Vogue that the rule now feels antiquated, describing black as "a great staple option" that can be worn to multiple weddings.

Alexandra Macon, co-founder of Over the Moon, agreed, saying the color is "perfectly acceptable, and chic," provided the overall look feels festive rather than funereal.
Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette also states that virtually every color, including black, is acceptable for modern weddings. Experts note that the biggest consideration is the couple's requested dress code.

They also recommend thinking about the season, venue, fabric, and time of day, since those elements often influence whether a black outfit feels appropriate for the occasion.
Although Gomez, Hadid, and Lopez approached wedding guest dressing in completely different ways, each showcased a distinct vision of formal style. Their looks offered three contrasting interpretations of elegance, proving there is no single formula for making an impression at a black-tie celebration.

A Star-Studded New York Affair
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding was one of the most closely guarded celebrity events in recent memory, with details emerging only gradually through exclusive reports, guest sightings, and comments from those closest to the couple.
The "Love Story" hitmaker and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 36, married on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City.

According to People, MSG underwent a dramatic transformation before guests arrived.
"It looked like a forest," an insider told the publication, describing décor that included trees and ferns throughout the venue. The arena seating was also covered in white as Taylor and the NFL star exchanged vows before family and friends.
The insider said Taylor walked down the aisle to a stage where the couple said, "I do."

One Ceremony Detail Reportedly Lasted Far Longer Than Most Guests Expected
According to the publication's insider, Taylor and Travis each read vows that lasted about 20 minutes, using matching gold books during the ceremony.
The couple also reportedly placed embroidered handkerchiefs at guests' seats, anticipating the emotional moments throughout the service.
After the ceremony, guests were invited to continue the celebration in a separate reception space.
Taylor's mother, Andrea Swift, welcomed everyone into the reception room, where a stage had already been prepared for live performances.
The publication reported that Paul McCartney performed The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand," while Stevie Nicks was also among the evening's performers.

The reception featured food stations serving Italian cuisine and sushi, along with passed hors d'oeuvres. There were also bars throughout the venue.
Although MSG is one of the country's largest entertainment venues, the insider described the reception as feeling "very crowded."
Another question quickly emerged after news of the wedding spread: Who officiated the ceremony?

TMZ reported that the "Happy Gilmore" star, Adam Sandler, officiated the ceremony and also performed an original song for the newlyweds. The outlet additionally reported that Jason and Kylie Kelce's daughters served as the flower girls.

The Couple Also Chose Several Wedding Traditions Their Own Way
According to Bloomberg, Taylor's publicist, Tree Paine, said the couple wore Christian Dior Haute Couture, while their shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin. The "Lover" singer completed her bridal look with Cartier jewelry.
The ceremony looks were designed by Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Dior Women's, Men's, and Haute Couture collections. According to Tree, the gown marked Jonathan's first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity.
The couple also departed from the traditional bridal party format.

The publication also spoke with luxury wedding planner Irene Katzias, who said whoever planned the event had "the honor of a lifetime."
"They probably feel so much pressure, and they probably feel like all eyes are on them," Irene said. "Inadvertently, they are also creating history and creating a trend - and they know it, too."
As More Guests Arrived, One Wedding Look Quickly Became a Talking Point
Although the ceremony itself remained out of public view, photographers captured many of the guests as they made their way to MSG.
According to Vogue, the couple's approximately 1,000-person guest list reflected the many parts of Taylor's and Travis's lives, bringing together musicians, actors, athletes, and longtime friends.
Streets surrounding the venue were blocked off in an effort to provide privacy, though paparazzi and fans waiting nearby were still able to catch glimpses of celebrity arrivals.

Abigail Anderson Berard, Taylor's childhood best friend, was spotted leaving her hotel alongside her husband, Charles Berard, as they headed to the wedding.
According to Vogue, Abigail wore a strapless Sau Lee gown featuring a greige boned bodice paired with a draped brown satin skirt. She completed the look with clear heels and carried a metallic clutch, while Charles wore a classic black tuxedo.

Some commenters, however, focused on a different part of her look. "One could argue Abigail's hair is the star of this weekend because we're probably not seeing TS 😅," a different user joked.

One Reception Toast Reportedly Left Guests Reacting in Different Ways
According to the Daily Mail, later reported by TMZ, Lena Dunham delivered a speech during the reception that included a joke describing American football as "straight guys reenacting gay porn."
According to an unnamed insider cited by the publication, the remark drew both laughter and audible gasps from guests. The source added that Swift was not offended and later called Lena "a genius."

The Four Words Donna Kelce Was Willing to Share
While photographers documented guests arriving outside the venue, those who attended largely remained quiet after the ceremony. One exception was Donna Kelce, Travis's mother.
In a Macy's Instagram Reel celebrating the Fourth of July, Donna first reflected on taking her sons, Travis and Jason, to watch fireworks over Lake Erie in Euclid, Ohio, when they were children.
She was then asked whether she could share anything about the wedding.
"I really can't say a heck of a lot," Donna replied. She then added just four more words: "Except it was magical, man."
Why So Few Wedding Details Emerged at First
According to Bloomberg senior national reporter Myles Miller, MSG took extensive measures to protect the event.
In a post on X, he wrote that he had been told the venue had parted ways with staff members for alleged violations of nondisclosure agreements associated with Taylor and Travis's wedding.

He also reported that everyone entering the venue — including law enforcement officers — was required to store their phones in secure bags, and that no one was allowed inside the arena before the ceremony began.
TMZ later cited Myles's reporting and that they had reached out to MSG for comment but had not received a response.
The Couple Also Marked Their Wedding Week With a Major Gift
A representative for Taylor told the publication that the couple donated $26 million to charitable organizations during the same week they were married.
According to the representative, the donations supported organizations focused on hunger relief, children's health, education, music, and animal welfare.
Recipients included City Harvest, the Food Bank for New York City, New York Cares, Feeding America, Harvesters in Kansas City, The Store in Nashville, Memorial Sloan Kettering Kids, Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone, and Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
