Far from the perfect marriage that most people expected from the Royal couple, Prince Charles and Princess Diana faced many problems in their marriage. The couple both admitted to being unfaithful to one another.

However, Diana was always worried about its impact on their children, especially with the huge media attention on the royals. In whatever she did, Diana was always a loving and truthful mother to her kids, and she had a special relationship with them.

WHEN CHARLES ADMITTED HE WAS UNFAITHFUL TO DIANA

There had been a lot of speculation and rumors of Prince Charles being unfaithful to Diana, but it was unconfirmed until the former sat for an interview on ITV in 1994.

Anchored by his royal biographer Jonathan Dimbleby, the interview discussed details about the heir to the throne's personal life.

Millions watched the interview, and it got to the stage where Prince Charles was asked about his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Camilla Parker Bowles who he dated before his marriage to Princess Diana.

Charles replied that he and Camilla were still friends and that she had been his good friend for a long time and would continue to be for a long time.

Jonathan subsequently asked Charles if he had tried to be faithful in his marriage to Diana and the Prince replied he had until their marriage broke down irretrievably.

His admission to cheating on Diana sent shockwaves throughout the country and within the Royal family. As a result, people started questioning if he was fit for the throne, and his reputation took a hit.

After being friends for years, Prince Charles and Camilla became romantically involved again in 1986. Princess Diana spoke about Camilla having an affair with her husband a year after the interview.

She explained that three people were in the marriage, and it became a bit crowded. Diana also told her biographer, Morton, that she tried to confront Camilla about the affair, but it led nowhere.

HOW PRINCE CHARLES'S ADULTERY AFFECTED HIS KIDS

In 1995, after Prince Charles admitted he cheated on TV, Princess Diana spoke about how the news affected her sons. The mother of two revealed that immediately she saw the interview, and the affair was confirmed; her first thought was of her kids and how to protect them. Diana said:

"My first concern was to the children, because they were able to understand what was coming out, and I wanted to protect them."

She was also devastated about the whole affair. Still, she admired the courage and honesty behind Charles's admission because for someone in his position to be having an affair takes a lot.

Princess Diana went to her children's school and spoke to her son, Prince William. She told him if he ever found someone he loved, the young child should do everything possible to hang on to them.

William asked his mother about what had happened and why her marriage to Charles had broken down. Diana told him there were three people in the marriage and the pressure from the media also made it difficult for them to cope.

Although she still loved Prince Charles, living under the same roof with him and her kids had become impossible, sadly. As to the effect this revelation had on William, Diana explained:

"He's a child that's a deep thinker, and we don't know for a few years how it's gone in. But I put it in gently, without resentment or any anger."

Diana also revealed she felt a bit responsible for some of the difficulties in her marriage. The mother two admitted, "I take some responsibility that our marriage went the way it did. I'll take half of it, but I won't take any more than that."

DIANA WAS ALSO UNFAITHFUL TO CHARLES, AND SHE REVEALED THIS TO WILLIAM

Princess Diana also spoke about a book released by Mr. James Hewitt, who claimed he was in a very close relationship with her from 1999.

The mother of two explained James was a great friend of hers at a difficult time, and he was always there to support her, so she was saddened by the book's contents. Diana declared:

"I was absolutely devastated when this book appeared because I trusted him and because, again, I worried about the reaction on my children."

She also admitted some factual information in the book, but most of it did not truly reflect what happened. It also distressed her that someone she considered a friend and trusted was making money off of her.

James had called her ten days before the books were distributed to bookshops to assure her she had nothing to worry about, and Diana explained she stupidly believed him.

Shortly after she saw the book's contents, Diana rushed down to see and talk to her kids. When she got there, she said:

"William produced a box of chocolates and said, `Mummy, I think you've been hurt. These are to make you smile again.'"

she was in a five-year-long association with James and that their relationship also went beyond just friendship. She

:

"I adored him. Yes, I was in love with him. But I was very let down.

The mother of two explained she did not do everything she did due to resentment, but because she was sad, her marriage did not work out. Diana was also ready to move on with her life. She hoped a future was out there for her, her husband, and the empire.

DIANA WAS A WONDERFUL MOTHER WHO WASN'T AFRAID TO BE SILLY AROUND HER BOYS

Princess Diana took motherhood very seriously and made serious efforts to raise her kids as normally as possible despite being royalty.

She also tried to schedule her time to spend more time with her kids. However, the mother of two did things differently from what many expect of royals.

Diana took her kids to school, which was strange for a royal; she was also not scared to look silly around them. One day, on a trip to Necker Island, the mother played in the sand with her children.

She would take the kids on vacations and trips while sometimes asking for bodyguards to stay away to create some sort of normalcy for the kids.

Diana made it a point to educate her kids about things happening in society. She took on social projects and once went to see people dying of AIDs to teach them life lessons. According to her:

"They have a knowledge - they may never use it, but the seed is there, and I hope it will grow because knowledge is power."

The mother of two never missed an opportunity to remind her kids how privileged they were and take them around homelessness projects. She

:

"I want them to have an understanding of people's emotions, people's insecurities, people's distress, and people's hopes and dreams."

The late

pushed boundaries of what was expected of a royal to give the best motherly care she could for her children.
