Cristiano Ronaldo Had Felt 'Blessed' to Be Having Twins — Death of His Newborn Son Is His 'Greatest Pain'
Cristiano Ronaldo became a father for the first time in 2010 when his son, Cristiano Jr., was born. However, he never revealed the identity of his son's mother. The footballer said that he would tell everything to his son when he grows up, but he would never tell the others.
Seven years later, he welcomed twins via surrogate, and that same year, his girlfriend gave birth to their daughter. Cristiano Ronaldo said that becoming a parent showed him real love and became his priority.
In 2021 couple announced they were expecting their twins in 2022. However, one of the twins, unfortunately, passed away. Here is a look into Cristiano Ronaldo's uneasy and sometimes unhappy journey to being five beautiful childrens' father.
CRISTIANO RONALDO BECAME A FATHER WHEN NO ONE EXPECTED
Cristiano Ronaldo had a rocky road to becoming a father from the very beginning. In 2010 all eyes of the press were on him when he suddenly announced becoming a father.
Nobody knew who the mother was as Ronaldo wasn't even in a relationship. He only confirmed that the baby boy would be in his full guardianship.
Ronaldo revealed that the baby's mother also wanted to remain anonymous. In his statement on social media, he asked everyone to fully respect his right to privacy as it was a personal issue.
Born on June 12, 2010, the baby boy got the same name as his father. The footballer named his son Cristiano Jr. and his sister said she and her mother liked the name even though they never met the boy's mother.
However, Ronaldo's mother and sister took care of Cristiano Jr. during the first weeks of his life. His sister confirmed that Ronaldo's son resembles him and their family never considered his actions strange.

Sometime later, Ronaldo opened up about his decision to stay private as he did not like the speculations about whether the baby's mother was a random girl or a surrogate mother. He said:
"When Cristiano [Junior] is going to grow up, I am always going to say the truth to him because he deserves it because he is my son, but I'm not going to say because people want me to say."
Cristiano Jr. follows his father's soccer steps as he already shows his excellent playing skills. In 2022, he played for Manchester United's under-12s against the Spanish side EF Girones Sabat.

Cristiano Jr.'s team won the match, with the youngster bagging their fifth goal. After scoring, he pulled off his dad's famous celebration. Fans are already clamoring for him to have the number 7 jersey like his father.
Ronaldo revealed that he has a special connection with his son, and they often laugh at silly things and play together. They both love playing soccer and watching movies.

However, his son's love for kicking the ball is so much that it is sometimes hard to call him for dinner. Ronaldo believes their shared love for soccer runs in the blood. While describing his son, Ronaldo said:
"He is a very loving and kind boy, friendly, respectful and super open to meeting new people. Everyone who meets him is always taken aback by the self-confidence he carries. This makes me very proud as a father."
The proud father also believes that the seven years he spent alone with his eldest is the reason for their special bond. Cristiano Jr. also starred during Ronaldo's CR7 clothing range campaign alongside his father.

BLISSFUL BABY YEAR IN CRISTIANO'S FAMILY
Another baby news came in for Ronaldo in 2017. By this time, Ronaldo was already dating his long-term model girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez.
However, Rodríguez was not the mother of the twins, as they were born via surrogate. Ronaldo named the boy Mateo and called the girl Eva.
Unfortunately, Ronaldo could not be present when they were born because he was away playing soccer at the Confederations Cup. However, as soon as the competition ended, he finally went home to be with them.
There were rumors about Rodríguez expecting a baby during that period. Still, the couple stayed quiet, and Rodríguez even posted a photo from the gym on her social media, showing her workout and hinting she was not pregnant.
It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel.
That same year the rumors became true as Ronaldo took to his Twitter to announce that Rodríguez had given birth to a beautiful baby girl named Alana Martina.
Ronaldo was happy to spend time with his twins and planned to enjoy their first year because he knows time flies. He said:
"Soon they will be grown up like Cristiano Jr, and I won't be able to have those moments with them anymore, so I cherish and enjoy every moment I have with them."
2017 was a good baby year for Ronaldo. He revealed he felt the love he never knew existed. He came to understand that family life was a unique and personal journey.
Becoming a parent changed the superstar as it softened him and gave him a new perspective on what was important in life. Parenthood showed him what matters in life. He said:
"Becoming a parent and raising my family is honestly the greatest privilege I've had. I'm enjoying every second of it."
DEVASTATING LOSS FOR CRISTIANO AS A PARENT
In October 2021, Ronaldo announced he and Rodríguez were expecting another set of twins into their family as she was pregnant. He felt 'blessed' and looked forward to meeting their new family addition.
However, what was to be a double celebration of joy and happiness turned into grief for the couple as their newborn son died in labor.

"It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness."
Ronaldo thanked all doctors and nurses for their support as their second newborn daughter survived, giving them one blissful moment in the devastating situation.
