What We Know about Amy Ryan ‘The Office’ Actress

Amy Ryan gained prominence in "The Office," where she stars as the love interest of Steve Carrell's character Michael Scott. Here's everything we know about the actress.

Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey recently stated that continuing "The Office" past season 9 would have been "wrong." According to them, producer Greg Daniels informed the cast that NBC had offered to renew the series for two more seasons.

But with many contracts already expiring, there was concern about what the show would become without many of the original cast members. Also, long-time writers Mindy Kaling, Jen Celotta, Gene Stupnitsky, Lee Eisenberg, and B.J. Novak had already left for other endeavors.

WHO IS AMY RYAN, "THE OFFICE" ACTRESS?

Fischer said that continuing the show without many of the original cast members felt wrong. Kinsey agreed, saying that gradually making up excuses for why people are leaving would ruin the show.

Among the cast members who have endeared with TV viewers was Amy Ryan. From 2008 to 2011, Amy Ryan portrayed Holly Flax, the love interest of Steve Carrell's character Michael Scott, on NBC's "The Office."

Ryan was born Amy Beth Dziewiontkowski on May 3, 1968, in Queens, New York City, New York. She attended Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center and also graduated from New York City's High School of Performing Arts.

She had her first film role playing the second wife of Eric Stoltz's character in Allison Anders's 1996 film "Grace of My Heart" (1996), but her scene was cut.

Aside from "The Office," Ryan is known for her roles in "Birdman" (2014) and "Gone Baby Gone" (2007). Her exceptional acting chops have earned her several recognitions.

Ryan was nominated for Broadway's 2000 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play) for a revival of "Uncle Vanya." She was also nominated for Broadway's 2005 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Play) for her work in a revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire."

WHAT RELATIONSHIP DO STEVE CARELL AND AMY RYAN HAVE?

Ryan and Carrell leave fans swooning with their loved-up characters in "The Office." Ryan's character Holly Fax fell in love and eventually tied the knot with Steve Carrell's character Michael Scott.

Five years after the comedy show ended, Carell and Ryan played husband and wife again, but this time on the big screen. They co-starred in the 2018 film "Beautiful Boy," playing David and Vicki Sheff, the parents of Nic Sheff, who struggles with drug addiction.

Timothée Chalamet plays Nic in the film, which was based on father and son David and Nic's best-selling memoirs. Luke Davies and Felix Van Groeningen adapted the memoirs into a screenplay and also directed the film.

DOES AMY RYAN HAVE CHILDREN?

Like in the movie, Ryan has a child in real life. She has been married to Eric Slovin, a comedy writer, since August 23, 2011, and they share a daughter, Georgia.

She was three months pregnant when she finished filming "Jack Goes Boating." She gave birth to Georgia on October 15, 2009, and became a mother at 41. She returned to work five months after childbirth to start filming "Win Win" (2011).
