The actor recalled the unforgettable moment during a 2017 episode of "The Late Late Show." He explained to the show's host, James Corden, thus:
"Ever since I was like eight years old and I saw her on TV, I was like, 'Mommy, I want that one.' I'm like, 'I'm going to stalk you for the rest of my life, and I'm going to get you.'"
After many years of possible stalking, Momoa and Bonet finally crossed paths in 2004. They met through mutual friends at a Jazz club in Los Angeles, and according to Momoa, they just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

The actor, who had sported dreadlocks to impress Bonet, recalled feeling ecstatic about their meeting. Momoa said he was short of words and felt like fireworks went off inside him.
Later on, the actor asked Bonet for a ride home, and on the way, they stopped at a café for Guinness and grits. The actress told Porter Magazine in 2018 that it was at that moment she fell in love with Momoa. Unlike other men, the actor did not run away, which captivated Bonet's heart.

The pair's bond and love for each other got more profound by the day. After dating for 12 years, Momoa and Bonet finally exchanged wedding vows in October 2017 in a low-key ceremony at their house in Topanga, California.
