Following the dysfunctionality that Prince Charles' family faced after his ex-wife Princess Diana's death, there were speculations about the animosity between his family and Camilla. However, Prince Harry once quelled these speculations.

While her story revolves around being the woman Prince Charles fell in love with yet could not be with until much later in life, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will always be remembered for being the other woman when he was married to Diana.

After the explosive interview Princess Diana gave in Kensington Palace, the world knew that Camilla was the third person in her marriage. At one point, Diana confronted Camilla.

It was a "ghastly" event in 1992 when Diana finally summoned the courage to confront Camilla. The princess shared that she was terrified of Camilla, but her final opportunity was to call her out on the affair.

Diana claimed that Charles begged her not to attend that event, but she chose to be there. She recalled getting to the occasion and seeing that Charles and Camilla were nowhere to be found. She then proceeded to go in search of her husband.

She stated how she told Camilla that she knew what was happening between her and Prince Charles. Camilla had memorably replied that Diana had "got everything you've ever wanted. You've got all the men in the world falling in love with you, you've got two beautiful children, what more do you want?"

All hell broke loose at the event, and according to Diana, the face-off with Camilla was one of her bravest moments. In 1996, she and Charles became officially divorced.

While all these played out, young Princes Harry and William watched as their parents' marriage collapsed. However, it was reported that Prince Harry idolized his mother, although he did not understand her.

Prince Charles moved on with Camilla years after Diana's death, and when Harry eventually met Camilla, introduced as Mrs. Parker Bowles, he was not receptive. In fact, he displayed his dislike. Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown claimed:

"When the younger boy was eventually prevailed upon to be in the presence of Mrs. Parker Bowles, he unnerved her with long silences and smoldering, resentful stares."

However, when Harry turned 21, he opened up about his past misconduct and discussed the Duchess of Cornwall during his birthday celebration.

He described Camilla as a wonderful woman who was close to him and his brother, William. Harry, who gave the interview at the Prince of Wales' Farm House in Highgrove in 2012, stated that she made their father "very, very happy, which is the most important." He added:

"William and I love her to bits. To be honest with you, she's always been very close to me and William... but no, she's not the wicked stepmother. I'll say that right now."

In 2022, things have changed so much. According to a royal insider, Prince William has grown to accept Camilla, but Harry might never come to terms with it. The insider also stated that Harry would never forget that his mother was meant to be Queen. The insider noted:

"William has accepted Camilla in terms of what she means to his father. He's been grown-up about it. 'My father loves this woman, I can't fight it, so I won't.'"

Due to the years of hard work she put in to change her image, it is safe to say that Camilla has come full circle from being one of the most loathed women in British history to being beloved by the British public.

However, royal insiders claim Harry would never come to terms with that. Things have also escalated since Queen Elizabeth announced her wish for Camilla to be Queen Consort in February 2022. The royal insider shared:

"Harry will never truly love her, his mother was meant to be queen, and Camilla will always be the woman who led to his parents' divorce."

Before this time, Camilla declined to become the Princess of Wales because she respected Diana. Also, it was thought that she would become Queen Consort when Charles becomes king. However, Queen Elizabeth's latest statement has proved otherwise.

According to Brown, Princess Diana would have loathed the idea of Camilla becoming the Queen, but Queen Elizabeth has been described as a pragmatist who knew her son would want Camilla to be his Queen.

She added that the Queen was only trying to tidy up things for Charles, as he takes up the throne when her reign ends. Brown described her decision as a "very shrewd bit of estate planning."

A close pal to Charles stated that the dad-of-two wants his sons to accept Camilla and be okay that she would become Queen Consort. However, Prince Harry still blames her for wrecking his parents' marriage.

It is also believed that the dislike of Camilla extends to his wife, Duchess Meghan. When Meghan and her spouse still lived within the Royal walls, there was never a common ground between her and Camilla.

In the message marking her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II acknowledged that the public would give Charles and Camilla the same support they honored her with. She noted that it was her sincere wish that Camilla would become Queen Consort and continue her loyal service.
