Elon Musk is a proud father who once called his children the "love of his life." Nonetheless, one of them has refused to be associated with him. Reporters think this may have something to do with Elon's tweets.

Elon Musk, the world's richest man known for his controversial inputs on Twitter, was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on June 28, 1971. His mother is Maye, a professional dietician, and model who was once featured on the cover of Time Magazine, while his father is Errol, a military man.

Elon is the oldest of three kids, and his father raised him and his brother Kimbal strictly. While they were growing up, Errol's word was law, and he taught them to be the best at all they attempted.

In an old interview, Elon's father revealed that the billionaire had been unusual as a child, often hanging out with the adults rather than running around with kids his age. Errol also said that he started nursing the ambition of becoming a millionaire at a young age.

One day Elon opened up about his ambition, and a man who overheard scoffed at his dream, telling him he would grow up to find that such a thing was easier said than done. Elon had called him "stupid" and gone right ahead to prove him wrong.

He left South Africa at the height of the apartheid to avoid getting enlisted, but after his parents divorced in 1979, he returned to live with his father. At the time, he was nine years old, but he was able to somehow get on a train and make his way to Johannesburg.

Seeing him shocked his father, but he took him in and continued to raise him. It was something Elon had desired. However, he would later admit that living with Errol was not "a good idea" because he had an unhappy childhood.

As a child, Elon spoke without filtering his words, was mischievous, and was usually a victim of bullies. At one point, he was pushed down a flight of stairs by bullies and beaten until he lost consciousness because of something he said.

His father moved him from the school after the incident. After graduating high school, he moved to Canada with his mother and siblings, where he spent two years at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

As an adult, Elon has been very vocal about how terrible his father is as a person. For example, he once stated that Errol used to plan out evil deliberately and had done every evil thing that anyone could imagine.

Errol has denied this and confessed that he has never deliberately hurt or killed anyone. He told Rolling Stone in an email that he loves all his kids and would go to any length to satisfy them.

Nevertheless, Elon believes there were a lot of things lacking in how he was raised, and he has struggled with loneliness since he was just a boy left to his devices while his parents were out running their busy lives. Elon once said in an interview that when he was a child, he told himself:

"I never want to be alone."

He fights to make that a reality as an adult and has admitted how important it is for him to have someone to go to bed with at night.

Elon met his first wife, Justine Musk, while she was studying to become a writer at Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. He first saw her across the common room and decided he wanted to know her. He introduced himself one day and lied that they had met at a party she knew she did not attend.

Elon was not Justine's type, and she kept blowing him off; however, he refused to take no for an answer. Even after he left their campus, he kept sending her roses, and one day, she agreed to have dinner with him.

By the time she graduated, they had become estranged, but Elon called her out of the blue one day and arranged for them to meet. At the time, he had been sharing a single apartment with three roommates in Silicon Valley while working on his first dot-com company Zip2.

He flew her out to meet him, and the act became more frequent as time passed. He courted her by complimenting her ambition, and one day, he took her to a book store, gave her his credit card, and asked her to buy as many books as she wanted.

Two years later, after making his first few millions, Elon proposed to her, and her answer was a yes. He made her sign a postnuptial agreement after their wedding, and while they danced at the wedding reception, he told her he was the "alpha" in their relationship.

Those were red flags, but Justine shrugged them off, thinking they were harmless. It didn't take long for her to figure out how wrong she was, but it was too late. By 2002, they had moved to L.A. and welcomed their first child, Nevada Alexander.

Nevada died the same week he was born. The cause was identified as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and doctors fought to save him, putting him on life support for three days.

It was a fruitless attempt, and Nevada was later taken off life support because he was already brain dead. After him, Justine and Elon welcomed twins and triplets, all of whom were boys.

Speaking about how he manages his relationship with them while keeping his businesses running, Elon once credited the email with allowing him to spend time with them while working simultaneously.

Many don't like his approach to parenting, but Elon seems to think it's working out perfectly for his family. In 2010, he called his kids the "love of his life," hinting at a good bond between himself and them.

He and Justine divorced in 2008, but she kept his last name for the sake of their children. In an article she wrote after their split, she declared her husband saw her as a "starter wife" and treated her as such.

Justine and Elon were together for eight years and share custody of their kids. After their split, the billionaire started dating actress Talulah Riley in 2008.

Elon and Riley got married twice between 2010 and 2016, with the first divorce happening in 2012. They split up for the second time in 2016 after she filed for divorce but have remained cordial with one another, and she later revealed that they are "best friends" who still care for each other.

The pair had no kids together, and in 2016, Riley claimed that she was not ruling out another marriage to him since they still had such a close bond. But then he started dating hip musician Grimes whom he met online.

In 2020, Grimes shared a picture that revealed she was pregnant with Elon's child. Their child was born in 2020, and the couple named him X Æ A-12 Musk.

The name attracted a lot of attention for how unusual it was. Eventually, they were forced to change it to X AE A-XII according to California law which dictates that special characters and numbers were not allowed on birth certificates.

They secretly welcomed their second child Exa Dark Sideræl in December 2021 via a surrogate. The delivery came a few months after Grimes and Elon split up after three years of dating.

In a Vanity Fair interview, Grimes referred to the tech mogul as her "boyfriend" and tagged what they had as a "fluid" arrangement.

However, the dynamics changed a few hours after the cover story was published when the musician took to Twitter to reveal that they had decided to go their separate ways once more.

More recently, it was revealed that Elon had also secretly welcomed twins in November 2021, with one of his top executives, Shivon Zilis, bringing the number of his kids up to nine.

In April, the pair reportedly filed a petition to change the twins' names to "have their father's last name and contain their mother's last name as part of their middle name," and an Austin Judge approved it.

Elon has a busy schedule as the CEO of four profitable companies, but he is also a doting father who enjoys spending time with his kids. In 2020, he melted hearts when he shared a picture of him cradling his newborn son with Grimes.

When it comes to parenting, the billionaire is known to take a different approach compared to other people. For starters, he prefers to bond with his kids when they get older, leaving their nannies and mothers to take care of them while they are young.

When it comes to their education, he has them attend a school he founded that focuses more on critical thinking than the usual curriculum taught in regular schools. According to him, this works well with his kids making them yearn for school sessions, unlike other kids who can't wait to end the school year to have a vacation.

Despite how much he says he loves his kids, one of them, Xavier Musk, has filed legal documents in an attempt to change her full name and also declare her gender identity. She turned 18 in April and now wants to go by the name Vivian Jenna Wilson.

Xavier, born a boy, now wants to be identified as a female. The reason she wants to drop her last name is speculated to be because of her father's tweets about the LGBTQIA+ society. Regardless of what Xavier chooses to do, Elon's feelings for her and the rest of his kids have not changed.

After news of what she planned to do went public, Elon shared a tweet that saw him declare love for his children. Fans hope the two can get along in the future, but until then, the proud father will remain steadfast in his love for all his kids.
