Almost three decades ago, George Clooney bought himself a house in Los Angeles, completely unaware that it would be the same place he'd live with his future wife and children. Luckily, the home was sufficient to house more than one of his offspring.

George Clooney's father, Nick Clooney, and his mother, Nina Clooney, were with him when he met the woman who'd become his future wife. The parents had tagged along with their famous son to a 2013 dinner with mutual friends.

Nick recalled to People magazine how he and his wife were the ones who answered when Amal arrived. She introduced herself to Nina and her husband before they spoke for a while.

George's father recalled how gorgeous, charming, and accomplished Amal was. By the time they'd eaten supper, it was clear to Nick that Amal was a kind and inclusive person.

When dinner was complete, George's father had already started hinting to his wife that Amal "could be trouble" for their son! The very perceptive parent confessed to People magazine:

“I really think by the time that first (meeting) was over, his and her fates were sealed, both of them."

Nick thought Amal was excellent, and his son, who was 17 years older, was "so remarkable around her." Just like George, Amal was already well established when they met with a successful career in London.

She was an independent woman who worked as a barrister in international human rights law. Amal wasn't famous like the actor, nor was she into the world of show business, and she and George started dating.

In February 2016, George appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to share how he and Amal ended up getting married. The show's host, Ellen DeGeneres, noted to the actor that after his first and short-lived marriage:

“Nobody thought you would get married."

The "Ocean's Eleven" star confessed, "including me," when discussing the thought of getting married again. George revealed that it took him around six months of dating the attorney for him to start thinking about proposing.

The actor and Amal hadn't even spoken about marriage when he proposed! On that fateful day, the star pulled out all the stops by hiding the engagement ring behind Amal, playing music in the background, his aunt had sung "Why Shouldn't I" in preparation for the proposal, and the actor cooked dinner!

George's girlfriend arrived from London all dressed up and suggested they order in, but he surprised her with the dinner. After the meal, the lawyer suddenly got up to wash the dishes, something she'd never done before, just as the song was coming on!

When she finally returned, George had blown out the candles and cunningly told his girlfriend to get the lighter in a box behind her. Seeing the ring, Amal casually showed it to the star and told him what she'd found!

The attorney wasn't picking up what was happening! With his facial expressions, George tried hinting at what the ring meant before going down on one knee and telling his girlfriend that he couldn't imagine spending the rest of his life without her.

Amal kept looking at the ring and then at George and said, "Oh my God." The whole proposal took 25 minutes because of all the delays and confusion, leading the actor to tell his girlfriend:

“I hope the answer is ‘yes,’ but I need an answer, cuz you know I'm 52, and I could throw out my hip pretty soon if I don't get an answer.”

Amal eventually said "yes," George admitted to DeGeneres that he and the lawyer hit it off immediately after their initial meeting. He said they knew from that moment on that they'd be together.

The couple's wedding was attended by 105 guests, and the star joked that only two of them were from his side of the family! George revealed that the rest of the attendees were his bride's Lebanese family members.

About two and a half years after their marriage, it was revealed that the Clooney couple had some other unexpected news! In February 2017, "The Talk" shared how the pair expected twins that June!

George was going to be a first-time father at the age of 56! Their son, Alexander, arrived at 12:54 p.m., with his twin sister, Ella, joining him at 12:56 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in London.

The statement George and Amal released said the twins and their mother were healthy, doing well, and happy. However, they hilariously revealed that the "ER" actor was sedated and was expected to recover "in a few days!"

In August 2017, George said his life had changed since welcoming his children. He revealed that he found himself cleaning vomit from his tuxedo, which was nothing new because it used to be his own that he'd removed before!

The star confessed that his life had changed drastically over the last two months. He was now responsible for other people, which he found terrifying, before noting how his wife was handling motherhood "like an Olympic athlete."

The actor said Amal was handling the journey "beautifully." George also shared his job was walking the twins around and changing diapers before admitting: "I really didn't think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins."

The "Ocean's Thirteen" star urged people never to make plans and advised them to enjoy the ride. Amal's husband also confessed how he was in an interesting place in his life.

Speaking to Vogue in 2018, George said he and his family did many things in their home to ensure their privacy from the paparazzi. The star's Sonning-on-Thames, London residence is in a quiet town.

However, the Clooneys also traveled to Los Angeles because of their jobs, where they had a "low-key" home. The background of the couple's home in the US is quite fascinating.

In February 2012, George was interviewed by CBS News in his Los Angeles home. The house had a bar area decorated with black-and-white family photos from his and Frank Sinatra's versions of "Ocean's Eleven."

The area also had a model of the actor's character from "The Fantastic Mr. Fox." The star also showed off his luxurious brown leather couches, and one shot was taken of him sitting on a comfortable-looking sofa beside a lit fireplace in what looked like a living room.

Glass and wood doors led outside to an outdoor sitting area of the home with a rock design for its walls. Behind the scenes sections of the interview, fans could see how cozy and comfortable the house looked.

Even though it was a celebrity home, it didn't have any extra and unnecessary additions. According to the news network, George bought the house nearly 30 years ago while starring in "ER."

The house also featured images from the actor's childhood, like a picture of him and his family in 1966. Another family photo showed the star as a young boy with his sister and parents in 1971.

Some of George's other treasured possessions in the home included some of the late President John F. Kennedy's neckties. One particular image was placed among several books on a bookcase.

The picture showed George and his father at a gala hosted by Walter Cronkite. The autographed photo had the star posing with news anchors Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, and Dan Rather.

Amal's husband also had a 45 rpm record of his iconic aunt, singer Rosemary Clooney, displayed on the bookcase. In a 1955 photo, his aunt was pictured with Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin on "The Colgate Comedy Hour."

As quaint as the house looked, it also boasted a wine cellar with an impressive collection. The actor's home also had a screening room, and during Vogue's interview, the house had changed from a bachelor pad to welcome the star's twins.

The children, who weren't a year old yet, had a nanny, and Amal revealed they were eating healthily. Little Alexander looked like his father, while his sister favored their mother.

Amal was balancing her career with motherhood with the assistance of a nanny, an assistant, a chef, and other staff members. The only time she and George got some peace and quiet to themselves was between six and eight in the morning.

When the attorney was nursing, life was more complicated because she had all these weird pillows, cushions, and machines around her. Some of the meals eaten by the Clooneys included spaghetti, salad, turkey meatballs, and chicken breasts with lemon sauce.

Alexander and Ella had two baby chairs that hung from the ceiling and were fully equipped with trays. The chairs faced each other in the ordinary-looking home, and when the family was in Italy for the summer, they stayed at their Lake Como house.
