Prince George Is 'Daddy's Boy' & Shares Passions with William – They Melted Hearts Singing 'Sweet Caroline'
The royal family tends to make headlines quite often and a criticized time it is because they are being criticised for doing something that the public deems unacceptable. However, the latest news headline was much more wholesome.
Prince George was born to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, in July 2013. The young prince’s birth marked the second time that three generations in direct line of succession of the throne are alive at the same time.
George’s birthday was also historic as a new law was passed saying that regardless of the baby’s gender, the child would automatically be next in line for the throne after Prince William, something that had never been done before.

Prince George turned nine on Friday, 22 July 2022, but has a long way to go before he can think about ascending the throne as he is only third in line after his grandfather, Prince Charles, and his father, Prince William.
PRINCE WILLIAM AS A FATHER
Most people experience a change when they become parents and being a royal does not exempt you from this fact. Prince William once revealed what changed about him when he became a father for the first time.
Although fans of the family might not see this side to Prince William, he revealed that he became more emotional when his children were born. He shared:
"I never used to get too wound up or worried about things. But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father."
While having children was something great for Prince William, it seemed bittersweet to him as it reminded him of the days when his late-mother, Princess Diana, was still alive and part of his life.
The prince even mentioned that he found having children overwhelming because it brought back emotions that he felt after his mother died. However, because he was in a different phase of life then, there was nobody there to help him.
Parenting has not always been a walk in the park for the Kate and William, though, and they have had to fine effective ways to discipline their children. An insider revealed that the pair are modern parents.
Kate and William have chosen to parent their children a little differently to what one might expect from the royal family, and royal expert Jenni Bond revealed:
"I think William and Catherine are making a good job of giving their children as much of a normal upbringing as possible.”
Bond also revealed that William and Kate are using emotional intelligence to discipline their children instead of using more traditional methods like the naughty step, which allows for a harmonious family dynamic.
Although the couple has been able to effectively parent their children, William did not hesitate to tell fans that parenting is not always an easy job. William once revealed that parenting could be a “struggle.”
The prince said that making the change from being an independent, single man, to being a husband and father was life-altering. However, he also mentioned that he wouldn’t change it for the world.
William said that he found parenting to be difficult at times because it was teaching him a lot about himself as he learned about his children. He also revealed that Prince George can be “a little rascal,” but that he was sweet.
Prince William then said that because he never had a sister, he found having a daughter to be a very different dynamic. However, the prince made it clear that he adores his children and loves being a father.
LIKE FATHER LIKE SON
Throughout the past nine years, William and George have formed an extremely close bond, which has been exhibited once or twice in public. William is also already coaching George on how to properly behave in future.
While the father and son have their playful and goofy moments, there are times when William leads the way in terms of how to behave once one becomes King. For George, who is third in line for the throne, these lessons are important.
Although George will not ascend the throne for many years to come, being taught these lessons early by someone who has more experience will help the young prince evolve. Body language expert Judi James said:
"William has always seemed keen to keep his eldest son close to his side and to initiate him steadily into his future role of King by sharing his own experiences, to provide some empathetic coaching."
Yet as William coaches George on how to behave so that he can effectively rule as King one day, he also tries to keep George and his siblings, Charlotte and Louis, as grounded as possible.
William says that the media makes it difficult, but he does want his chidlren to live a normal life and not grow up only behind the palace walls. Prince William says he wants his children to be out in public, too.
William and Kate have also already spoken to their children about their duties as royals, but in a way that a child could understand and not be overwhelmed by. All of these things will prepare Prince George to ascend the throne.
Although there is a lot of official business that Prince George must accompany his father on, the pair also share casual moments in which they revel in their shared passions. It has been said that George is a “daddy’s boy.”
While William and George share a physical resemblance, it is their hobbies and interests that bring them together. The pair love all the same things, from sports to helicopters, and bond frequently over them.
Sport has always been a big part of Prince William’s life and he enjoys watching football, tennis, and cricket. When his eldest son began taking an interest in all of these sports, the pair were able to bond over them.
They are able to sit and discuss these things for hours, and when they run out of things to say about sport, they can move on to another shared passion of theirs: helicopters. In 2019, Prince William was given a helicopter, which he gifted to George. He said:
"I can't go back without a helicopter for George, I’d be in trouble."
PLATINUM PARTY VOICES
While it is no secret that the royal family has many rules to follow, a recent interaction between Prince George and his father, Prince William, has melted the hearts of fans everywhere because it showed them letting their hair down.
It was at the Platinum Party that Prince George and Prince William showed off their singing voices by singing along to one of the most famous songs in history while waving their Union Jack flags in the air.
“Sweet Caroline” is a song that lifts the spirits of all those who hear it and it this was clearly the case for the young prince and his father. The pair sat side by side at the celebration and jubilantly sang along.
Because fans of the royal family are not often privy to this type of interaction, they were charmed by the fact that the royals sang along to the song that many other people enjoy too. The comments praising the interaction came rolling in with one saying:
"Did you see little Prince George singing along to Sweet Caroline with Rod Stewart! Aww,"
It is clear that fans enjoyed seeing the father and son enjoying themselves, even though they were on official royal business. Seeing them acting like any other father and son at a party endeared the pair to fans.
Another twitter user who viewed the event took to the comment section of the video that was posted to share their opinion on it. They said:
"Prince George singing along to Sweet Caroline with his dad and waving his flag, a British classic. Beyond cute."
Although William and George know exaclty how to act in public when they are on official royal business, it is clear that they also know when they can let their hair down and have a little fun.
