Paul and Linda's daughter, Mary, grew up in Abbey Road Studios, the legendary recording studios that have seen so many famous artists, some of whom were Paul and his bandmates from The Beatles.
Mary decided to do a documentary about the studios called "If These Walls Could Sing" and said she asked for her father's help to do so. She said that she had no idea of the extent of history in the studios.
She said that doing the documentary has allowed her to immerse herself in the studios and reconnect with her mother. Talking about how she paid homage to her mother in the documentary, Mary said:
"I love the picture of my mom going over the zebra crossing. She had a little pony in London. That's one of the reasons I wanted to [the film.] I snuck her into it a few times. There's an homage to her. She's my inspiration."
Mary said she also enlisted her father's help in making the film. Paul is said to have helped his daughter by giving her tips about the studio and sharing stories with her from when he frequented the place.
Paul McCartney "Cried a Lot" for His Late Wife of 29 Years
Paul and Linda met in 1967 at Bag O' Nails nightclub in London. Although American, Linda was in London to take photos for a book called "Rock and Other Four-Letter Words." Paul was considered the most eligible Beatle at the time.
However, soon after he first laid eyes on Linda, he knew he had lost his heart to her. Just over a year later, the couple tied the knot, and Linda saw her husband through some very trying times in his life.
When The Beatles broke up in 1970, Linda assisted her husband in finding a new way of life. Together they moved to Scotland and made a life for themselves with Linda's daughter, Heather, who Paul adopted.
The couple shared 56 beautiful years together, but it sadly came crashing down in 1998 when Linda was 56 years old. Linda passed away after losing her battle with breast cancer. Paul was crushed.
Linda was the second woman that Paul lost to breast cancer. When he was a boy of 14, he lost his mother to breast cancer too. His mother was only 47 when she tragically passed away. Paul's daughter is named after his mother, Mary.
After losing his wife, Paul took his time to grieve. Talking about how his wife's death affected him and how he coped with becoming a single father of four, Paul said:
"I think I cried for about a year on and off.”
He said he kept expecting to see the woman he loved to enter the room again one more time, but of course, she wouldn't. He admitted he felt somewhat embarrassed, but it seemed that crying was all he could do.
How Did Paul McCartney Cope with Four Kids After Linda's Death?
After his wife died, Paul had to take care of his children alone. He did not hire a nanny and took care of his children alone. While many thought that Paul would find it difficult to raise his children alone, he said no such thing was true. He said:
"I genuinely love it. It's a thrill bringing up a young kid."
He loved being a father and found it to be educational. Paul was not exhausted by it, and he managed to raise all of his children to be successful and independent. Heather is a potter, Mary is a photographer, Stella is a fashion designer, and James is a musician.
Paul did everything for his children, including taking them to school and picking them up. While he had a successful music career, his role as a father was one of his most important, and he loved it.
