Parents Demand Grandma Babysit Even When Sick, Scandal Erupts When She Leaves Baby with 'Stranger' — Daily Drama
Gwen left their daughter with her mother-in-law, Annette, but she had to leave the baby with a stranger due to illness. Gwen was livid and swore never to speak or let Annette near her children until something unexpected happened.
"Please, Annette. You have to take Elaine. Josh and I really want to see this play, and we might not get more chances with our second baby coming," Gwen begged her mother-in-law on the phone. Her daughter, Elaine, was 4, but they were expecting another child in a few months.
Therefore, she asked her mother-in-law, Annette, to babysit many times, which was always great. The grandmother loved doting on her granddaughter. However, things were a little different this time.

"Gwen, darling. I don't think I can. I don't feel well, and I wouldn't want your child to get sick," Annette reiterated. She had already told her daughter-in-law about her current illness, but Gwen had not been listening.
"I'm so sorry about this… about being so brazen about this, but I really need your help."
"Please. You have to do it. You promised us you would help with her when I had her. I'll send Elaine with a face mask or something. It's your duty as a grandmother," Gwen insisted, and finally, Annette relented.
"OK, bring her over."
"Thank you! Thank you! I'm leaving right now!" Gwen said excitedly and put a coat on her daughter as they rushed out the door.

"This night was perfect. I know we're not going to get many chances like this with our second baby coming, so thank you, baby," Gwen told Josh on the way back to Annette's house when the play ended.

"I loved it, too. But I'm excited about our baby. How about you call Annette and tell her we're on our way?" Josh suggested, and Gwen nodded.
"Oh, I just remembered I still had this on airplane mode," she commented, smiling, and put the phone back in normal mode. Suddenly, a bunch of messages flew in, and her cell phone recorded several missed calls. "Jesus, your mother called several times."
"Did something happen?" Josh asked, mild concern surfacing in his tone.
"I don't know. There's a voice note," Gwen said and pressed play.
Annette's rough, strained voice filled the car. "Gwen, darling. I've called and messaged many times. I need to go to the hospital, but I don't think taking Elaine with me is a good idea, so I'm leaving her with my neighbor, Mrs. Johnson. I'll talk to you later."
"WHAT?" Gwen shouted when the voice note ended. "SHE LEFT OUR DAUGHTER WITH A STRANGER?"

"Now, Gwen, try to calm down. She said she went to the hospital. Something's going –"
"I DON'T CARE WHERE SHE WENT! SHE SHOULD'VE TAKEN OUR KID ALONG!" Gwen interrupted her husband with more screams. "I can't believe this! We trusted her, and now OUR CHILD is with a complete stranger. Something could happen to her! DRIVE FASTER, JOSH!"
Gwen and Josh arrived at Annette's house and found her neighbor, Mrs. Johnson, inside. "Oh, you must be Josh and Gwen. The little darling is asleep already. Annette–"
"No, offense. But I don't care. You shouldn't have been watching my little girl. We're leaving with our girl, and you tell Annette that she was never, ever see my child and my future kid again!" Gwen snapped as she ran to one of the rooms where little Elaine was sleeping soundly.
She grabbed her girl and rushed out. "Let's go, Josh," she whispered firmly, and Josh looked apologetically at Mrs. Johnson as they left.

Josh thought Gwen would get over this situation in a few days, but she didn't. Annette had to go to the hospital because she had trouble breathing. She was alright, thankfully, but Gwen had left her a scathing message, repeating what she had told Mrs. Johnson.

Despite the grandmother's best efforts to apologize and make amends, Gwen wouldn't budge, and Josh couldn't do anything about it. Annette had been cut off from her son and her granddaughter completely. But Mrs. Johnson tried to comfort her and say it would all be alright somehow.

It happened when Gwen went into labor, and Josh did not answer his phone. He had a huge meeting that day, but he should've had his phone on hand because Gwen was near her due date. However, her water broke unexpectedly, and she was scared. There was no one to watch Elaine and no one to take her to the hospital.
So, she did the only thing she could think of. "Gwen? Is everything alright? You're calling me at last," Annette sounded surprised as she answered the phone.
"Annette, my water broke, and Josh is not answering," Gwen said desperately. "I'm so sorry… about being so brazen about this, but I really need your help."

"I'm on my way!" Annette replied immediately. But Gwen was not done.
"Do you think… Mrs. Johnson could come too? We need someone to stay with Elaine," Gwen added, holding her belly at the sudden pain.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, please," the laboring mother squealed out, and they hung up.
Annette and Mrs. Johnson arrived at the house quickly. Annette and Gwen left for the hospital while the other older woman stayed to babysit. Gwen apologized profusely on the way to the hospital for everything she had put her mother-in-law through these last few months, especially since they never asked if she was over her illness.
Luckily, Annette was quick to forgive.
Josh arrived a few hours later after rushing out of his office.

"From now on, we will answer the phone no matter what's happening or where we are!" Gwen screamed during a contraction.
"Yeah, I think that's best," Josh responded, comforting her and smiling at his mother. Fortunately, the baby arrived hale and hearty, and all was well with their family.
What can we learn from this story?
- Always answer the phone because you never know if there's an emergency. While it's polite to put your phone on silent on certain occasions, you should ensure people can still reach you in case something happens.
- Don't let misunderstandings cause a rift within your family. Gwen did not let Annette explain things well and blamed her for leaving her daughter with the neighbor. They didn't speak for months because they didn't communicate well.
