Taylor Dayne's Private Life with Her Two Kids She Welcomed through Surrogacy
Taylor Dayne is a single mother of two and a chart-topping musician. Although she is not married, the musician welcomed a set of twins through unconventional circumstances.
Taylor Dayne is a musician who got her rise to stardom in 1987 when she released her debut single, "Tell It to My Heart." She has since earned an American Music Award and a couple of Grammy nominations, among others. She is also an actress who starred in "Stag" and "Love Affair."
Dayne has had hardships throughout life that are beyond fame and accomplishments. Since her childhood, Taylor has faced serious health issues. The experiences then helped shaped her into who she is today, and in the wake of the desire to become a mother, Dayne's options were limited to adoption and surrogacy.

She Had Her Kids via Surrogacy
Dayne was born on March 7, 1962, and at the age of 5, she underwent ureteral reimplantation surgery. In a critical fight for survival, Dayne had to cut the tubes that lead into her kidneys. This surgery physically affected her life and directed her course. Dayne only became relieved from treatment at age of 18.
She grew up with poor self-esteem and always doubted how she looked. As a result, Dayne spent ages 15 and 16 at home, suffering from panic attacks and in fear of putting herself in spaces that would intensify her anxiety. Eventually, she joined a treatment program to recover.
Due to the severity of the surgery, she feared that getting pregnant would cause complications within her body. When the thoughts of having children intensified, she felt adoption would be the better option. However, she then discovered that surrogacy would eradicate the risk of a life-threatening pregnancy.
Her Kids Teach Her To Love
Dayne was taken by the idea of having children with her genes while not having to undergo pregnancy. She found someone who went through the pregnancy with her eggs; surprisingly, it was a set of twins. She named her children Astaria and Levi.
In light of this exciting news, Dayne called her brother and joked that if she were to get triplets, he would have to adopt one of the three children since she ideally wanted one. The pregnancy was successful, and Dayne feels nothing compares to the feeling of becoming a mother to her children.
Taylor admits that before she had children, she felt a void within herself that she initially felt would be filled when she attained fame. She said:
"They took that … I hate to say loneliness … but before I had them, I thought, Is this it? If this is all it is, then I don't know what I worked my whole life for! I don't know why I thought fame was going to fill the void because it didn't. My children have taught me how to love."
When asked about the type of mother she became, Dayne said that growing up in New York with her Jewish parents, who were very strict about prioritizing work and studies, has shaped her goal-driven mentality.
She then added that there is only one of her, implying that she is a single parent, which caused her to become a "drill sergeant" at certain times; however, she is confident that her children understand her and the "tongue-in-cheek" aspects of who she is.
The singer highlights her most significant life lesson: if you stand around long enough, you can sit down to enjoy your achievements. She advises that people should not pressure themselves into feeling like every move they make is their last.
Taylor Is a Colon Cancer Survivor
Dayne keeps close tabs on her health, even conducting colonoscopies twice a year. She adopted this routine when doctors found harmless polyps in her body. However, when she was 60 years old, Dayne was diagnosed with colon cancer after doctors found a polyp with aggressive cancer.
After her daunting encounter with one of the deadliest diseases, Dayne encourages everyone, particularly women, to visit a doctor to project and detect the illness while it is early.
Shaken by this discovery, Dayne describes that her world became very dark. Her routine checkups helped the doctor assure her that it was still early. She did not have those threatening cells during her previous colonoscopy, roughly six months before.
Luckily there was no need for her to go through chemo or radiotherapy. However, she underwent an operation that led to removing ten inches of her colon and subsequently deeming her cancer free. Quite a relieving outcome for the musician considering that colon cancer is behind a third of all cancer deaths in the United States.

The surgery was successful, but Dayne developed an infection afterward and was hospitalized for about 20 days. The singer added that there are no guarantees when surgeons cut your body open and that nobody is sure about what will happen.
Dayne lived a life with critical health issues and frequently visited doctors. Her experience with cancer revived the painful memories of the complications she faced as a child. She said:
"For me, being back, I felt like I was four years old again back in the hospital, basically locked inside my own body without a voice."

She added that this experience had challenged her mentally and emotionally and has her back into a therapy program, just like when she was 16. However, she recovered and is now in a much better space.
