Jeff Timmer Lost His Teenage Son: More about Their Family

Jeff Timmer's son's death was announced on Twitter on March 7, 2022. On behalf of Jeff Timmer and his wife, Mattie, the Twitter account of The Lincoln Project revealed the heartbreaking news.

Jeff Timmer is a political strategist and a senior adviser at The Lincoln Project. In addition, he is a writer who also has a podcast where he shares his political views.

His son, Mekbul Timmer, fondly called Mek, was only a teenager and a high school student when he died, and he was the youngest child in the Timmer family.

Family Living through the Grief

One day after news hit social media that Jeff and Mattie had lost their youngest child, the couple posted his picture on their respective Facebook pages without any caption.

Immediately, their friends and followers commented on the pictures while consoling the couple. Some of their friends were heartbroken by the sad news.

On Mattie's post, one of her friends who knew Mek from his school reminisced on her time with him. The lady who works at Portland High School wrote:

"I miss his beaming smile and daily laughter at school. Cherishing fun memories of his wit and charm in class. I only saw him a few seconds a day this year, but his smile was always beaming and contagious! Love to your family.❣️"

Another friend commented that their son had a beautiful soul and everyone who knew him would miss him. She wrote that his smile could light up a room and sent his family prayers of comfort.

Another of Mattie's friends commented that Mek was a talented young man who was kind, wonderful, funny, and sweet. He sent his love to the Timmers and revealed that his heart was breaking after hearing the sad news.

Mek's mom also took to Twitter to thank their family and friends for their messages. In the post where Mattie also mentioned her husband, she wrote:

"The outpouring of love and sympathy we have received are giving us the moments of grace we need to navigate this unspeakable grief. To everyone who has reached out to us in any small way, we thank you. @jefftimmer."

Who Are Mek's Parents?

Mek's parents live in Michigan, USA. His mother prefers a lowkey life and stays out of the spotlight even though his father is famous.

However, she is outspoken in supporting her husband's political efforts and appears to hold similar sentiments. She also has a fun and quirky side to her personality, which can be seen in her Twitter bio.

She wrote that she is the mother of dragons, a spartan for life, a rebel, a singer, an amateur photographer, a professional crumper, an Ozian, a rainbow mom, and a bereaved mom.

Despite losing her son and being vocal about it, Mattie never stopped being an activist in her support of Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. She constantly shared her thoughts with her over 13,000 Twitter followers.

Jeff, currently a senior adviser at The Lincoln Project, was once an executive director of the Michigan Republican Party. Now, he is Independent. The Lincoln Project, where he works, is an American political action committee formed in late 2019.

To stop former President Donald Trump from being re-elected in 2020 and Republicans from retaking control of the Senate, a group of ex-Republicans launched the initiative.

On Twitter, Jeff, an International Relations graduate from Michigan State University with over 88,000 followers, describes himself as a strategist and a former member of the Grand Old Party, also known as The Republican Party.

He also stated that he is a co-host of the podcast "A Republic, If You Can Keep It," and a co-founder of the Republicans & Independents for Biden, in support of President Joe Biden.
