President Trump said the couple had "saved thousands of dollars" through tax provisions included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. "They're investing their savings into Sandra's education and Trump Accounts," he announced.

Why the Toddler Already Had $1,000 to Thank Trump For

Trump Accounts are a new kind of investment account established for children. A parent, guardian, or another authorized person manages the account until the child turns 18, at which point it belongs to the child.

To qualify, a child must have a valid Social Security number and must not turn 18 before the end of the calendar year when a parent, guardian, or other authorized person formally chooses to open the account. The IRS calls that choice an "election," and it is made by submitting Form 4547.

After that is processed, the account can be opened. Parents, loved ones, and employers are permitted to contribute directly, allowing several people in a child's life to help build the investment over time.

Under the pilot program, some children qualify for an initial $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury. Eligibility applies to U.S. citizens born from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028, provided they have valid Social Security numbers.

The official account site says personal contributions can total as much as $5,000 per year. Those funds are automatically invested in the State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF, known as SPYM, an index fund containing hundreds of large American companies.

That investment structure means families do not have to choose individual stocks for the account. The money is placed into the designated fund, where its value can rise or fall with the market over the years.

The site offers a hypothetical example of how regular deposits might grow. Beginning with the Treasury's $1,000 contribution and adding $50 each month for 18 years could produce approximately $25,000 if the investment earned a 7 percent annual return.

That estimate is informational rather than a promise. It does not account for inflation, taxes, fees, or changing market conditions, and actual investment returns are not guaranteed.

The IRS describes Trump Accounts as a way to give the next generation an early start on saving. It also confirms the main eligibility requirements and the $1,000 pilot contribution for qualifying children born during the four-year period from 2025 through 2028.

Sandra and Brad's son appears to fall within that eligible group, based on the family's participation in the Nevada event and his own memorable thank-you.
