Justine Bateman’s Husband: The Actress’ Marriage to Mark Fluent and Past Flames

America watched Justine Bateman grow up on their TV screens, but the woman she is today is far from the girl they remember.

The girl most fans remember as Mallory Keaton in the iconic 80s sitcom "Family Ties" is now a writer, producer, and director -- and the mother of two children.

Actress Justine Batemann's husband is banker Mark Fuent; before she married him in 2001, she had several relationships with a few notable actors and musicians—a look inside Justine Bateman's romantic history.

Born February 19, 1966, in California, Justine Bateman is the daughter of film producer Kent Bateman and the older sister of actor Jason Bateman.

Even though he is younger by three years, Jason preceded his sister, starting his career in 1982 in "Little House on the Prairie." Justine was cast as Mallory Keaton in "Family Ties" opposite Michael J. Fox a year later.

Justine made the tricky transition from teen star to adult actress successfully, and her career after "Family Ties" includes roles in film and hit TV series like "Men in Trees," "Desperate Housewives," and "Californication."

In 2022, Justine released her directorial debut, "Violet," starring Olivia Munn, Justin Theroux, and Luke Bracey. After her marriage in 2001 and the birth of her children, Justine stepped back from the limelight to concentrate on her family.

Justine Bateman's Dating History Includes Several Big Names

Justine's fans were surprised when she married a banker and real estate businessman Mark Fluent in 2001 because, throughout the 80s and 90s, the actress had dated several of Hollywood's hunkiest leading men and rock stars.

Even though Justine looked for love in Hollywood, she had already met the man she would eventually marry in high school.

One of the men she dated was British punk rock musician Billy Idol, whose outrageous bad-boy image belies what Justine said of him. She commented:

"He was really very polite!"

In the mid-80s, Justine dated sound mixer Bobby Anderson whom she met while making an episode of the series "Tales From the Dark Side" in 1984.

Justine went on to date another musician, teen idol Leif Garrett, but the relationship apparently ended suddenly, and the actress commented:

"He was a great guy, but I have no idea what happened to him."

Justine Bateman and "MacGyver" actor Richard Dean Anderson were seen and photographed at several events, looking affectionate and holding hands.

However, even though the actor did date other Hollywood beauties, his relationship with Justine is not believed to have been anything but friendly.

Justine Bateman Has Been Married to Mark Fluent for More than Two Decades

Curiously, even though Justine looked for love in Hollywood, she had already met the man she would eventually marry in high school: Mark Fluent.

Fluent is a businessman and the managing director of Deutsche Bank for the Greater Los Angeles Area, but he also has connections to the entertainment industry as a producer. Justine said:

"He's an astute businessman so he gets the whole business end of it. He also produced a couple of movies, so he knows enough about it."

Justine Bateman and Her Husband Have Two Adorable Kids

Justine and Mark Fluent welcomed their first child, daughter Gianetta Fluent in 2002 when the actress was 36. Their second child, son Duke, was born in 2004.

Throughout her more than two decades of marriage, Justine has done her best to keep her family out of the limelight. The two kids were seen at a few events when they were younger but have been out of sight since then.

They may one day decide to follow their mom and uncle's example and go into show business, but Justine made sure they had a normal childhood.
