Bride Died Leaving Wedding Hours after Saying Vows – Groom Said She Wanted the Day to Last Forever
A day that was meant to be magical and heartwarming for a couple and their families and friends turned into a nightmare when the bride passed away, and her groom was seriously injured on their wedding day.
Samantha Miller, 34, and her husband, Aric Hutchinson, were involved in an incident that left Hutchinson in critical condition with multiple broken bones and Miller's family heartbroken at her loss.
The couple was involved in the incident just minutes after leaving their wedding reception on April 28, 2023, in South Carolina. The incident has led the groom's mother to start a GoFundMe page to assist their families.
In the GoFundMe page's description, Hutchinson's mother explained what had happened and then, talking about her son, said:
"Aric is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones, and a brain injury; he will have a long recovery."
Their Families Started a GoFundMe Page
Hutchinson's mother set up their GoFundMe page and shared their story with heartfelt sincerity. She revealed the couple had been in a golf cart with her son-in-law, Benjamin Garret, and her grandson, Brogan Garret.
Hutchinson's mother said the Garret men had been escorting the happy couple from their reception when a driver doing 65mph in a 25mph zone hit them from behind. The golf cart was thrown 100 feet away and rolled several times.
The older woman said her daughter-in-law lost her life, and her son was in critical condition. She confirmed her son-in-law and grandson had also been injured in the tragic crash on her son's wedding day.
Hutchinson's mother mentioned her son's wedding ring had been given to her in a plastic bag at the hospital just hours after Miller placed it on his finger. She confirmed her son had lost the love of his life, who had wanted their wedding day to last forever.
The GoFundMe page is set to help the families pay for Miller's funeral costs and assist with the medical bills that Hutchinson will have. Hutchinson's mother said they had made their home in both Utah and South Carolina.
The bride's father, Brad Warner, took to Facebook two days ago to discuss what had happened to his daughter. He shared a photo of himself and his daughter dancing on her wedding day.
The caption mirrored the sentiments in Hutchinson's mother's GoFundMe description, saying the couple had married at 5 p.m. and by 11 p.m., his daughter had lost her life after celebrating her marriage with her family.
Warner said he was delighted to see his daughter and her husband so happy at their wedding and mentioned they were madly in love with one another. Warner then lamented:
"They were so excited about getting their lives started together, and it was taken away from them because of one person. Our families are so torn apart, and it's a feeling that I would never want anyone to experience."
Warner went on to say: "I hope to hell that nobody else ever has to go through this because I'm a tough old man, and this is absolutely killing me." He mentioned that he missed his daughter dearly and prayed for his son-in-law's recovery.
A day after the first post, Warner posted a second in which there was a video of him surprising his daughter. The pair happily embraced in the video as they beamed at one another. Warner was pleased he had surprised his daughter.
Once again, Warner mentioned how much he loved and missed his daughter, with friends sending him comforting words in the comments section of the post. Warner said he couldn't get enough of the video, and he hoped anyone who watched it also wouldn't.
The Other Driver Involved
The incident that took place on April 28, 2023, has now been highly publicized, and people have also been talking about the other person involved in the accident. This driver crashed into the newlyweds and their family.
The other driver was Jamie Lee Komoroski, who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. She was driving a rental car, whose data revealed she had been traveling 40mph over the speed limit and only briefly hit the brakes before crashing into the golf cart.
Komoroski is 25 and has been charged with reckless vehicular homicide and driving under the influence on three counts. She is now facing one to 25 years on each count. It is unclear whether or not Komoroski has a lawyer.
Messages for the family have been flooding in ever since the news of the incident broke online. Many are sending their love and prayers to each of the newlyweds' families and saying that they admire their strength.
Many people thought the story was devastating, and others said they couldn't imagine the pain they were facing. One said:
"So sad! Praying for the husband and family, the husband is going to be so devastated. My heart breaks for them."
Others sent their condolences and said they hoped Miller would rest in peace and her husband would recover quickly. Another said what started as a happy day turned into tragedy and that they felt awful for the family.
One person said they couldn't fathom going through something like this and that their heart broke for the family. Another hoped justice would be served and the families would get the healing they deserved.
On Twitter, people were also commenting on the tragedy and garnered similar comments to the ones on Facebook. One said:
"A sister, a daughter, a wife, died in her wedding dress because someone made a terrible decision."
Hutchinson is still in recovery as the newlyweds' families pray for him and the Garret men. Tributes for Miller have poured in from family and friends, and Hutchinson's family is hoping he will recover soon. We wish the families nothing but healing at this difficult time.
Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated one, with many people facing tragedy on and after their wedding days, like this man, who had the impossible task of burying his wife days after they wed.
