On January 28, 2020, ITV's "This Morning" interviewed Iris Jones, then-80, who became famous for speaking about her sex life with her younger husband. She revealed on the show that she hadn't believed love would find her again at her age.

However, fate had different plans when it linked her to a younger man. The elderly woman met Mohamed Ahmed Ibriham, 35, in 2019 through a chance encounter on social media. The pair clicked despite them living countries apart, with Jones based in the United Kingdom and Ibriham in Cairo, Egypt.

The couple also made news because of their 46-year age difference, and people wondered if their bond was the real deal. Jones' family and friends were concerned about the pair's long-distance relationship, with her opting to clear the air once and for all.

The elderly woman was a retired cleaner, was once married, and had two sons. Jones's ex-husband died in 2016 before her sons bought her a computer that helped her connect to the world and find love.

How Did Iris Meet Mohamed before Meeting His Mother?

Jones and Ibriham became an item when he suddenly sent her a private message on social media. Initially, Jones thought the much younger man wanted friendship, but then the pair realized they had much in common.

The English woman described him as "very intelligent" and was looking for someone who could be on his level, which turned out to be her. Jones had always wished to see Egypt's pyramids and was keen on Egyptology.

So Ibrihim encouraged her interests before he started flirting with her. After only fifteen days, the Egyptian man proposed marriage, and Jones tried to push his feelings away by telling him that he was "absolutely mad!"

She asked him how he could have feelings for a woman he hadn't met and was almost five decades older than him. Then the duo started having video calls, and at one point, Ibrihim revealed he had a job waiting for him in Turkey.

The contract was supposed to last six months, and that's how long he would be gone. She didn't want him to leave but still encouraged him to take the post because he couldn't give up his career with the hopes of her going to Egypt.

Jones eventually went to Ibrihim's home country to see him, with the former revealing that their first night together was:

"Pretty rough!"

The English woman said no one had slept with her for 35 years, and "I thought I was a virgin again." The elderly woman had the interviewers cringing when she shared how they had to use a whole tube of KY jelly for the deed!

Ibrihim's girlfriend had them laughing when she revealed how she couldn't walk the following day! Jones hilariously confessed to feeling like she'd ridden a saddleless horse but noted how sex wasn't the important thing to them.

The woman's biggest gripe was not being unable to share a bed with the Egyptian man because she was elbowed in the face and hit on the back by his knee! Despite all their challenges, they stayed together, and Jones met Ibrihim's mother, who was younger than her but approved of their relationship because the English woman made her son happy.

Jones also revealed what had annoyed her the most about her ex-husband.

The couple faced some challenges with being together in one place, and sadly their relationship didn't last.

Why Did Iris and Mohamed End up Separating?

When asked how she knew Ibrihim wasn't trying to scam her, Jones said she could tell from their conversations that he was genuine. The elderly woman never sent her younger boyfriend money; he worked as an engineer.

The couple was so serious about each other that they exchanged rings and married in 2020. However, after two years together, they went their separate ways, with the now 83-year-old saying she wished for a peaceful life with the cat she got days after her marriage fell apart and Ibrihim moved out.

In July 2023, Jones said, unlike Ibrihim, her cat, Mr. Tibbs, was the "perfect companion," as he is quiet, never complains, is easy on the eye, and she adores him. The cat happily lives with her and doesn't cause a mess, with the elderly woman saying she doesn't miss her younger husband.

Jones also revealed what had annoyed her the most about her ex-husband. She said the 37-year-old took her tempura battered prawns when he left, and she'd intended to have them for dinner that same night!
