Sandra Bullock's life has been eventful in the past couple of years. She subsequently had severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and took a break from her acting career.

In December 2021, Bullock appeared on "Red Table Talk," hosted by Jada-Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, where she discussed the most stressful moments in her life.

During the interview, the Oscar-winning actress recounted the evening when she found a man in her house in June 2014. Bullock told law enforcement officers that she arrived home at 1 a.m., headed to her bedroom, took a shower, and fell asleep.

She woke up after hearing a loud banging sound she believed came from inside her house and called the police. Afterward, she locked her bedroom and got inside the closet. Bullock, who said she had placed herself in unsafe relationships, childhood memories, and unsafe people before, stated:

"I'm in the closet going, 'This doesn't end well.'"

Upon arrival, the police found a man named Joshua James, who was apprehended without having caused her harm. The officers discovered his backpack containing a notebook, a letter addressed to Bullock, cut-out magazine pictures of her, and a Utah concealed firearm permit.

The police found entries in his notebook, including a reference to Bullock and her son Louis. Luckily, her child was with the nanny that fateful night, who had decided to take her to her apartment because the Hollywood star would be back home late.

"Had he been home, I would've run to the closet, which is now my official closet, but that was his bedroom, and it would have changed our destiny forever," said the concerned mom, adding:

"The violation of that. I wasn't the same after that. I was unraveling."

Bullock was left with severe PTSD following the home invasion, for which she has found therapy to keep it under control. As for the intruder, James, it was revealed that he was not in his right state of mind, and in May 2018, he took his own life.

In addition to this unfortunate incident of her home being broken into, the movie star has endured more unbearable situations, including her son suffering from a grand mal seizure – also known as a tonic-clonic seizure.

Bullock was left worrying about her child's life. Moreover, while trying to recover from her son's episode, she got bitten by a poisonous spider, leaving her hair falling out in clumps.

At that point, the "Bird Box" star believed her body would eventually "break" because it was not responding well to what had occurred. She explained:

"My hair starts falling out. I have alopecia spots everywhere. I'm by the tub, laying out hair [counting] one, two … I literally had to take inventory: if I don't pull it together, I'm going to die."

Bullock is a proud mother to son Louis and daughter Laila. Her journey to motherhood was not easy because she was hesitant about taking the adoption route at first.

However, after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in 2005, she had a surreal experience. "[…] Something told me, 'My child is there.' It was weird," Bullock divulged in a June 2018 interview.

At three years old, he innocently chimed in during a conversation she was having with her friends about their daughters, saying, "Yeah, I don't have daughters. But I'm going to have a baby soon!"

But Bullock explained that she is "not retiring" and was only choosing not to spend most of her time filming for a while, adding, "I have beautiful babies. […] I'd rather look at them every day and have them be mad at me, and annoyed, and make memories with them for right now."
