When a man scolded his daughter, told her she was "useless," and threatened to kick her out of the house, he didn't know she would disappear the following day. Worried, he and his wife reached out to her friends, but no one knew where she was.

A 23-year-old girl shared her story on Reddit to ask other people if she did the right thing. Before revealing what happened to her, she introduced herself as a graduate school student who worked two jobs, aiming to save enough money to move out of her parents' home.

She also shared that she had a 20-year-old sister who studied online and did not work. The girl emphasized the fact that she always made time for a few house chores despite her hectic schedule.

It was a usual day for the girl when she returned home from work and found clean dishes in the dishwasher. Feeling tired after working two jobs and attending her classes, she decided to take a shower before taking the dishes out.

Everything was fine until her father lost his cool and began comparing her to her sister. She recalled, "My dad went on a rant about how I'm useless and never help around the house and that my sister is always the one doing everything."

The girl felt offended after hearing those words because she always tried to help with house chores as much as possible. She reminded her father about it, but their argument did not end there. Ultimately, her father threatened to kick her out of the house if she didn't quit arguing with him. Fed, up, the girl decided she had enough. She recounted:

"The next morning, while everyone was still asleep, I packed my things and left."

After hearing her father's words, the girl thought it was better to leave the house. She thought living in a car and taking showers at her gym was better than living at her parents' place.

What Did Her Parents Do after She Left?

Worried for her daughter, the girl's mother messaged her to ask where she was, but she didn't respond. Instead, she blocked her family members' numbers and social media accounts. The girl didn't want to contact her family at any cost.

When her parents couldn't trace her, they reached out to her friends to learn about her whereabouts. They asked them if they knew where she was, but no one knew she had left her house.

The girl shared that she received messages from her friends asking her if she was okay. "I told my closest friend that I left home and that I'm safe and told her to tell my parents that I'm fine, but I have no desire to speak to them anymore," she said.

After learning that she was okay, her parents asked her friend to tell them where she was and said they wanted to talk to her. Soon, the girl visited her friend's place and was surprised to see her friend siding with her parents. "She told me that what I did was awful and that I should speak to them," the girl wrote in her Reddit post, but she disagreed with her friend.

Towards the end of her post, she asked other people if she was at fault for not communicating with her parents. She believed she did the right thing by leaving home because she thought that was what her father wanted.

Do you think the girl was right? Should she speak to her parents and return home? Do you think her father is at fault for telling her daughter she was useless? What would you have done if you were in the girl's place?
