Husband Notices Strange Taste in His Tea, Sets up Hidden Camera & Catches His Wife in Action
A husband noticed a chemical taste in his drinks and installed hidden cameras in his kitchen. He reportedly discovered that his wife of ten years had been poisoning his drinks with drain cleaner.
A husband noticed a chemical taste in his drinks and suspected his wife had been spiking them. The man set up hidden cameras in the kitchen and allegedly saw his wife pour Drano, a product containing strong chemicals to help dissolve anything clogging sinks.
His wife, Yue "Emily" Yu, is a 45-year-old dermatologist. He claimed he had seen her pour the drain cleaner into his drinks at least three times.

The man, a radiologist, took the video evidence along with samples of his tea to the police, and the authorities confirmed that the tea contained Drano.
His wife was arrested, and now that the video was open to the public, the husband also filed for a restraining order against Yu.
Husband Files for Divorce
The couple had been married for ten years and shared two children, a son and a daughter. Yu's defense attorney claimed the dermatologist was innocent.
However, the court documents allegedly revealed that the husband had also suffered physical abuse from his wife. Yu would reportedly demand massages and step on his head until he gave them.
The reports also stated that the mother of two started hiding money from her husband and would physically, verbally, and emotionally abuse her two children. Some of the cruel things she reportedly said to them were, "You are so ugly, you look like a pig."

Therefore, the husband filed for divorce and is fighting for full custody of his two children. Yu reportedly asked her husband to bail her out of jail, but he refused.
Emily Yu Faces Charges
The South Carolina dermatologist was charged with three felony counts of poisoning and one for domestic battery injury. Should Yu be found guilty of any of these accusations, she would look at eight years and eight months in prison.

Her husband confessed that he started suspecting Yu was poising him in April, but she was arrested in August 2022. The father of two also told his lawyer that he had developed stomach ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis.
Yu also had to wait for the Medical Board of California to decide whether she would be allowed to continue practicing medicine. However, her lawyer, Scott Simmons, did not seem too worried about his client losing the case.
Simmons explained, "Drano is not a covert poisoning agent. It has a strong smell and taste and is highly caustic" and added that his client was looking forward to her appearance in court.
The lawyer also disputed allegations that Yu was taking advantage of her husband's money. Simmons reasoned that the doctor had her own practice and exponentially surpassed her husband's income. Simmons reiterated that money was not the instigator in this situation and that Yu was never interested in killing her husband.
