Extraordinary love stories have emerged, defying age gaps, cultural differences, and societal norms, captivating our hearts and minds with their unique journeys.

One such mind-boggling tale is that of Iris Jones and Mohamed Ibriham, whose love story captured the nation's attention. In the summer of 2019, Iris Jones, an 83-year-old British pensioner from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, had an unexpected encounter on Facebook that would change her life forever. She connected with Mohamed Ibriham, a 37-year-old man from Cairo, Egypt, and their virtual meeting sparked a whirlwind romance that transcended the significant age gap between them.

While she initially hoped things would improve, they did not, leading to separation.

In November 2020, Jones and Ibriham took their relationship to the next level and tied the knot, sealing their bond in marriage. The couple gained national fame when Jones fearlessly shared intimate details of their sex life with Ibriham on the TV show "This Morning." Sadly, their story took an unforeseen turn last month when the pair revealed they had decided to part ways after two years of marriage.

Mohamed Ibriham Breaks Silence after His Split from the British Pensioner

Earlier in August, Ibriham, who worked as a security guard at their local Tesco, seemed to address his recent break-up with Jones on Facebook.

The newly-single bachelor shared a photo of himself on his Facebook Stories, accompanied by the lyrics of Gloria Gaynor's hit song "I Will Survive." The image depicted Ibriham with a radiant smile, dressed in a black coat and gray turtleneck jumper, with the poignant lyrics of the heartbreak anthem overlaid on top.

In a 2020 appearance on "This Morning," he defended his relationship with Jones, passionately expressing that love knows no boundaries of age or nationality. He staunchly defended their love and lashed out at those who doubted their connection, stating that it was nobody's business. He also addressed a troubling label that had been associated with him:

"I am angry about what people say on the media, people say I am a toy boy. I am a man, I am a man, okay? I am a man, not a toy boy. I am not a game, please do not say that again [sic]."

Ibriham continued reiterating his commitment to Jones, stating that he didn't care about their living situation or financial status; he only desired to be with her. He emphasized that he was willing to make a life with her anywhere in the world, regardless of the country.

What Iris Jones Said about Their Separation

Jones shared her feelings about her whirlwind relationship with Ibriham last month. She expressed her initial adoration for him, but as time went on, it became difficult. The couple's once vibrant sex life turned into constant arguments about various issues. Being in her 80s, Jones emphasized that she couldn't tolerate such conflicts and wasn't a lovesick teenager.

After Ibriham moved out, Jones found companionship in her new cat, whom she adored for its quiet and undemanding nature. On another occasion in August, she drew comparisons between her relationship with Ibriham and a younger man and an older woman portrayed in the BBC crime series "The Sixth Commandment."

Regarding their split, the older lady stated that they had been drifting apart for some time, and she hadn't seen Ibriham since he moved out. She acknowledged that he took the breakup badly and might want to share his side of the story.

Jones admitted to her own strong-willed personality, finding it challenging to adjust to having someone in her home after 27 years of celibacy. While she initially hoped things would improve, they did not, leading to separation.

The senior citizen mentioned that friends and family had warned her about potential issues in the relationship, and though she wished she had heeded their advice, she does not regret the good times they shared.

Reflecting on the situation, she realized that her first husband, Gwyn, whom she was married to for 30 years before divorcing, was the best partner she had. She acknowledged that her marriage to Ibriham may have been a mistake, but she has moved on to a new chapter in her life.

She felt that Ibriham's family in Egypt might not know about the breakup. The elderly woman mentioned that he didn't open up much, which was one of the reasons for their split, as he thought she talked too much.

Jones, who has two grown-up sons, expressed uncertainty about Ibriham's motivations for marrying her, believing he might not have wed her just to come to England. However, she mentioned that his secretive nature led to further misunderstandings.

She emphasized that there was no chance of reconciliation, and her love and attention were now focused on her beloved cat, Mr. Tibbs. Jones also stated that "she threw [Mohamed] out" in July and hasn't heard from him since. The split may affect Ibriham's eligibility to remain in the UK.

Many netizens shared their two cents on Jones and Ibriham's story online. One user called Jones a "poor old lady, " saying her relationship wasn't meant to last. A second person noted how it's common for lonely individuals to make poor decisions, regardless of gender. Another commenter added, "Shame she couldn't see that from the start!"
