Happy Parents Filming Their Baby’s Gender Reveal Suddenly Realize They Almost 'Lost' Their Son

A family of four was elated to find out the gender of the future new addition. However, what occurred during the celebration nearly ended in tragedy.

Peg and Nick Theobald documented the gender reveal of their future baby. The couple filmed themselves and their two sons, Adler, 8, and Everson, 10.

Nick and Peg, including the kids, gathered in front of the camera in their kitchen while holding white cupcakes and stood to take bites to reveal the colored icing inside.

Peg asked her boys and her husband to guess what they were having, whether a boy or a girl. Alder and his brother said the family was having a girl, while their dad figured it was a boy.

However, he quickly switched it up after his wife pointed out that he initially thought it would be a girl, so he went with a girl, adding, "I don't know what it's going to be. We're going to see."

Peg then took over and counted to three, asking everyone to hold on to their cupcakes as they all took a bite in unison. After taking bites and seeing the color, the four yelled together, "Oh!" and the mom-to-be broke into tears.

One of the boys asked, "Mom, are you okay?" An emotional Peg turned to the camera while applauding before her husband embraced her. "I can't breathe," as she teared up.

They all turned to congratulate her on the family's newest addition, and Adler turned back towards the camera, giving a big smile before he started grasping onto his throat. Everyone was unaware of this, continuing the celebration behind him. Peg then quickly tended to her child, who seemed to be coughing uncontrollably upon the shared moment, and she asked him if he was okay as she took a look at him.

The Gender Reveal Did Not Go According to Plan

"Oh, my goodness, are you okay?" the concerned mother asked her son after realizing there was something wrong. She told him to spit out the mixture, and he did.

Nick then patted his son on the back and suggested he take a deep breath. Adler eventually managed to dislodge the cake, and his father ended the video.

The clip had the words, "Watch as our family barely survives a cupcake #genderreveal," over it. Peg then captioned the social media upload, revealing:

"1. It's a girl! 2. My son is ok. 3 He didn't fall or pass out at the end. He stepped off a stool he was on. 4. Thanks for all the congratulations!"

Although the mother of two tried to set people's minds at ease, some of her followers did not take the moment light-heartedly and made it known in the comments section.

"You almost lost your child," said one Instagram user. Another asked, "How did nobody notice?" While a third person remarked, "Gained a girl almost lost a boy."

But the clip amused some followers, and someone commented that it was hilarious how Adler kept his focus on the camera "while choking to death."

One individual said they would now be using the phrase, "Take a breath," when they are in the company of someone who is choking. While another person admitted, "I feel so guilty laughing at the poor kiddo."
