The Allegheny County Police Department shared that the Pittsburgh International Airport officials were informed about an abandoned dog in a parking lot around 5:30 a.m. on August 4, 2023.

When they arrived at the location, they found a clueless French bulldog sitting in a stroller without any sign of its owner. The unattended dog was reportedly left by a woman who had taken a flight earlier that day.

"Officers were able to locate a microchip on the animal but attempts to reach the owner were unsuccessful," the Allegheny County Police Department revealed in their official statement on Facebook.

Why Did the Woman Abandon Her Dog?

Upon investigating, the authorities learned that the dog's owner, an unidentified woman, was not allowed to board the flight with her dog. The woman told airport authorities that her dog was an emotional support animal, but they didn't let her board the flight without placing the dog in a crate as per the rules.

Instead of canceling her travel plans or dropping her pet at a safe place, the woman allegedly abandoned the dog. She left the Frenchie near the airport's short-term parking lot before boarding her flight.

After finding the innocent dog, the police contacted the Allegheny County Dog Warden, who moved the 7-year-old dog to an animal shelter called Animal Friends. The shelter officials spoke in a statement:

"Animal Friends was notified of a case involving suspected abandonment at the airport through the Allegheny County Dog Warden, and the dog involved was admitted into our care."

The shelter officials further assured that they were "reviewing possible charges" against the owner for abandoning her pet. They also said they would take care of the dog and provide medical treatment while under their supervision.

The Allegheny County Police Department also revealed a possible charge against the woman, stating, "A charge of animal abandonment is expected to be filed against the owner by the state dog warden."

Meanwhile, some people said they would have never abandoned their pet like that, even if that meant not boarding the flight. Another netizen commented, "It never ceases to amaze me how some people treat their pets. I hope she had a horrible vacation, and I hope they publicly shame her so people can see what type of person she truly is."
