Broken Mom Makes the Difficult Decision to Give Up Her Twins after Learning of Husband’s Infidelity

A woman in a broken marriage made a tough decision but knew it was for the good of others. She now knows what she did was the right decision and is grateful for the strength she had.

In January last year, a woman shared her story about one of the most difficult decisions she had ever made after finding out her husband was cheating. Her daughter told her about the affair, and what came next was a series of heartbreaking events.

The woman found her husband talking to one of her Facebook friends in October 2016, and although the conversations had started innocent, they quickly turned into a sordid affair.

The woman said her husband was hiding conversations from her, deleting messages from his mistress, and even hanging a sheet in their living room so she could not see his computer while she worked.

By March the following year, the woman's mother had fallen ill, and her husband suggested they move nearer to her so they could be there for her in an emergency. The woman agreed and went ahead with the move. She stayed with her sister first while her husband was supposed to follow once she had located a house for them there. It was during this time that she was away that her husband had an affair.

While she had suspicions about what her husband was doing, the woman's thoughts were confirmed when her daughter told her that a woman had stayed in their house while she was away and had slept in bed with her father.

For the next couple of months, the woman and her husband went back and forth about what they were going to do regarding their marriage, and during this time, the woman found out that her husband's mistress was pregnant.

Not only was his mistress expecting his baby, but she and the woman's husband had chosen to name their son the name the woman had selected if she ever had a son. The woman lamented:

"This was the type of thing you would think would break someone. I was broken, but apparently not broken enough to leave. I just wasn't ready."

The woman was determined to make her marriage work and even tried therapy. However, after one session, her husband said he didn't want to go back. The couple then moved to Virginia for a fresh start.

When they moved, her husband called the woman fewer names, was more attentive, and even did small things like picking flowers for her or walking their dog. Soon, he asked if they could have another child.

What Happened With the Pregnancy?

Although her husband wanted to have another baby with her, the woman was hesitant, suggesting they wait a year before they started thinking about expanding their family again so they could focus on their marriage.

Her husband was not interested, saying she would want to have a child with him right then if she loved him. After some struggles, the woman fell pregnant, and her husband was happy until a surprise in the pregnancy threw things off track.

The woman went to her first ultrasound appointment alone and found she was carrying twins. When she told her husband, he suddenly became distant and told her he couldn't support twins on top of the eight-year-old daughter the couple already had.

Soon, the woman suggested that she and her husband look into putting the twin boys, whose gender had been determined by a blood test, up for adoption. She admitted that, like all the pregnancy checkups, she went through this process alone as her husband was disinterested.

Finally, she found a nearby family that would adopt the boys, and she continued her pregnancy, knowing she would never take her babies home. When she was 36 weeks pregnant, she had an emergency C-section to deliver the babies.

The boys were taken into the NICU, where the woman could have skin-to-skin contact with them and feed them in their incubators. The day they were allowed to leave the hospital, their adoptive parents called the woman back to have some photos taken with them.

What Is The Woman's Relationship With the Twins Now?

The woman has an open adoption and can see her boys once a year on their birthdays. The boys' adoptive mother also sends her regular updates about them and their milestones.

Although she never got to take the boys home, she says she is grateful for them and hopes one day they will know how much they mean to her and how much she needed them to come into her life.

Soon after she gave birth to the twins, the woman left her husband for good, finally ready to move on with her life. That's when she met the love of her life. She gushed:

"He would love me the way I was supposed to be loved the years prior. I appreciated not feeling alone for once. I appreciated that someone else cared about me."

The woman said she knew many people wondered why she would even try for a baby when her relationship was so broken, and she says it is because she couldn't accept that her marriage was over after having been with the man for 15 and a half years.

Now, she knows she made the right decision because she didn't want to welcome the twins into a broken home. She hopes that one day when she visits her boys, they will know exactly who she is and respect her decision.
