Dad of 2 Discovers Wife Cheating On Him with a Married Man, Drops by Hotel Where They’re Booked

A man who found out his wife was cheating on him went to the hotel where he knew she would be. However, ending the marriage was not his endgame; he had more complex plans.

A Reddit user took to the platform to share the story of his divorce from his wife, saying he was using a throwaway account because he thought the story might not paint him in a good light.

The original poster (OP) and his wife were a typical suburban couple with two children: a fourteen-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son. He had incorrectly assumed that they were happy then.

OP soon discovered that he and his wife's marriage was not as solid as he thought. They began experiencing a rough patch because they were both working long hours and experiencing tension surrounding their son's developmental problem.

How Did The Man Find Out About His Wife's Cheating?

OP found that as the tensions in their home grew, his wife spent much more time texting her friends on her phone. He didn't think much of it but was trying to be there for his wife whenever possible, doing jobs around the house and being more connected to her.

However, despite his best efforts, he noticed that the rift between them was only growing over the following few weeks. One day, he discovered the reason for this.

OP had charged an old iPad for his son to use but found that his wife's Facebook Messenger was still logged in. Opening the app, he found suspicious messages between her and another man.

The man was from her hometown, and even though OP didn't see anything inappropriate in the messages, he noticed that some messages were missing. Regardless, he decided to keep watch of the situation, and in the meantime, he would continue trying to patch things up in his marriage.

As the weeks unfolded, OP began noticing increasingly inappropriate messages between his wife and the man from her hometown. One day, he read his wife and the man mocking him, and the messages had a sexual undertone. OP began taking screenshots.

He continued following their interactions and found that they were exchanging "I love yous" and their conversations had turned overtly sexual. At that point, OP shared:

"I consulted a lawyer, got my options, and started moving forward."

OP knew his marriage could not continue, but what happened next was something he found surreal. His wife gave him the perfect opportunity to get his affairs in order and prepare to leave her.

How Did the Man Take Revenge on His Wife?

As the man continued watching his wife's conversations with the other man, he learned that they had made plans to meet at a hotel. OP saw this as his perfect opportunity to withdraw half of their money out of their accounts and had his lawyer draw up a separation agreement.

Once he had all his affairs in order, OP went to the hotel where his wife had gone to meet the man she had been messaging. When he arrived, he called his wife's phone, which went straight to voicemail.

OP asked the reception desk to call the man's room. When the man answered the phone, OP told him to send his wife down, or he would phone the man's wife and tell her what was going on.

His wife came down, and he presented her with the screenshots of her messages with the other man. He told her that he had drawn half of the money in their accounts but had left her half so she could get a place.

Some suggested he find someone new.

OP then left the hotel and waited for his wife to return with the signed separation agreement. A few days later, she did, and the man began his revenge plan by ensuring his children knew about his wife's infidelity.

He consciously left documents that indicated his wife had cheated on him for her teenage daughter to accidentally see, and when she did, this angered her, planting hate toward her mother. OP soon began divorce proceedings, and because of what he had done, his children chose to stay with him in the house where they grew up.

OP rested knowing he could live with his kids, who idolized him, in the house where they built their family. He also bragged that he gets to sleep with his ex-wife whenever he wants by giving her hope that they might get back together.

Many people told OP they were happy for him that he managed to exit his marriage but disagreed with the fact that he was still sleeping with his ex-wife. Some suggested he find someone new.
