Childers was raised in Lawrence County, Kentucky, by a mother who was a nurse and a father who worked as a strip miner in the coal industry. During an interview, he revealed that his father's occupation deepened his appreciation for miners. However, watching both his parents work hard to support their family impacted the singer, who said:

Tyler Childers Is Grateful for How His Parents Raised Him
Childers grew up in a Baptist family that lived in a community rich with a culture of tradition and resilience, and they had a strong will to make it. According to the musician, the people in his community were historically outcasts.
"We were the first west, really, in this middle-ground outlier area, and it's like, you'd have to be crazy to go out there. You can't make it. And then we did," he said. When he was younger, his grandfather — also affectionately known as Papaw — gifted him with an acoustic guitar, and the singer was exposed to all types of music.

However, following Papaw's death when he was 15, Childers played the Bluegrass to remember him. "He bought me my first guitar, and I played it for him. It was our thing. We were real close," the singer sweetly revealed.
Over time, with the support of his parents and grandparents, he was granted the freedom and guidance to find himself as a young man and as an artist. He shared:
"I was very lucky to have a very close-knit family [...]. That kind of 'go get it' attitude they instilled in me fueled what I needed to do, and I'm really grateful."

They also all loved Senora right out the gate. Happy momma day."
