Man Jumps Out of Window to Avoid Talking To His Ex-fiancé & His Mom Cuts Ties with Him

After jumping out of a window to avoid a guest his mom had invited to dinner, one young man caused a severe rift between himself and his mother, who said she planned to cut ties with him.

A Reddit user who had recently broken off his engagement turned to others on the platform to find out if he was wrong for jumping out the window at his mother's Christmas Eve dinner because he didn't want to see the person she had invited.

The original poster (OP) explained that he and his fiancée, Sarah, dated for four years before he asked her to be his wife. They had planned their wedding for November 2020, but sadly never made it down the aisle.

The OP clarified that he had broken off his engagement because Sarah had cheated on him. He felt too emasculated to tell his family and friends why he had broken up with Sarah, so many assumed the breakup was his fault. This is where the problem came in.

Other Reddit users ensured that the OP understood that while his feelings were valid, the way he had handled the situation may not have been the best. One person said he should have told someone what happened before it escalated to him breaking out of his mom's home to avoid Sarah.

Another said that while they agreed the OP should have told his family what was happening, his mother should have stayed out of his business and never invited Sarah to dinner.

One person thought Sarah had manipulated the OP's family into believing her by being the first person to speak to them about the breakup. This person believed things may have been different if the OP had told his family sooner.
