A woman shared her story on Reddit to get opinions on whether what she did was wrong. She went back to work after giving birth to her daughter, thinking she was in good hands with her husband. Her husband hasn't had work in years and didn't plan to get a job because he lived off benefits.

Leaving her daughter with her husband wasn't her first choice. However, seeing that daycare was too expensive, she had no choice.

Her Husband Stayed Home to Care for Their Daughter

Her husband reluctantly agreed to care for their daughter. This scared the woman initially because she knew her husband to be indolent.

Whenever she's home, he never helps out with anything. He never offered to cook, to clean up after their home, or to help out with their daughter. It was all the woman's job, as far as he was concerned.

During the first few days, she thought her husband had a change of heart and decided to be a responsible parent. She'd either catch her daughter sleeping when she arrived home or playing, eating, or walking around the neighborhood with her dad.

However, when the woman bumped into a neighbor, she discovered the whole truth. Not only was her husband putting up a front, but he'd also leave their daughter crying for hours whenever the woman was at work.

The concerned neighbor revealed that one day, she knocked on the door to see if everything was alright. Finally, after constant knocking, he opened the door – he'd been sleeping.

The woman realized that her husband would sleep all day wearing noise-canceling headphones, which blocked out his own daughter's cries. Whenever it was almost time for the woman to come home, she'd pretend to care for her.

One day, the woman decided to investigate. She took a day off from work but pretended to leave at the same time as she usually did.

"I went to my daughter's room, scooped her up, and took her to my friend's house. I waited about 2 hours and I finally called him to tell him that I was coming home early," the woman shared.

Moments later, her husband called her back to say he couldn't find their daughter. He said he'd call the police, but the woman decided to tell him the truth.

She told him she took her daughter with her after seeing him asleep. The woman's husband was livid, and he began calling her words.

When the woman got home, her husband was with his mom. His mom calmed him down after he suffered a panic attack.

Like her son, the woman's mother-in-law started calling her names. Her son even decided to sleep at her house because of what happened. While the woman acknowledged what she did was unthinkable, she felt it was justifiable given what her husband was doing every day.

Initially, people felt the woman was terrible for doing that to her husband. However, after finally sharing her side of the story, people began taking her side.

After sharing her story on Reddit, people also made sure to show the woman support. All the kind messages from other people made her brave enough to make a move.

The woman left her husband for good. He and his mother are still furious with the woman, but she couldn't care less.

The woman and her daughter moved in with a good friend of hers. During the time they moved away, her husband not once asked to see their daughter.

Online, the man ranted about how his ex-wife trapped him with a baby, "ruining his youth." Regardless of what he said, however, the woman had moved on.

She found a good routine with her daughter, and she's relieved that they are now safe. When she took her daughter to the doctor, they found signs of neglect.

When the woman explained the situation, the doctor urged the woman to sue her husband. With everything going on, the woman believes pressing charges is the right thing to do.

What would you have done in the woman's situation? Would you have left?
