Mime Notices Mom Carrying Baby and Heavy Backpack - Calls Out Her ‘Lazy’ Husband to Teach Him a Lesson
- In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, a sassy mime is seen chastising a man who failed to help his wife carry their heavy-looking bag while she was already holding their baby.
- While walking next to one of the open aquariums at SeaWorld in Florida, the mom was seen holding a heavy bag on her back while holding her baby at the same time.
- The father nonchalantly strolled behind until the mime stopped the family and gave the bag to the dad.
In a comedic video posted on TikTok on April 28, 2022, a man named Ernest Palomo captured a hilarious exchange between a family of three and a mime performer. The gentleman was sitting in the crowd of a show at SeaWorld while on vacation at the resort in Orlando, Florida, when he saw the real-life event happen.
The 24-second clip, which has since gone viral since its creation, showcased a family of three - Michelle Tzenevrakis, Nick Tzenevrakis, and their baby Kalliope Tzenevrakis, passing through the pathway separating the crowd from one of the open aquariums. The mother was holding the baby in her arms while a heavy-looking bag balanced on her shoulder. What followed next was just as funny as it was chivalrous and a vital message to society.

As the video began, the doting mama was seen cooing her baby as her husband nonchalantly strolled along without a care in the world. As the family got further down the path, a mime overlooking the scene interjected their journey and stopped them in their tracks.
Walking up behind Michelle, the mime tapped her on the shoulder and mimed asking her if she was with the guy who was very clearly not helping her. After confirming she was, in fact, with him, the mime proceeded to take the heavy bag off her shoulder and hand it to her husband.
The whole exchange got a kick out of the audience, who amusingly looked on. After Nick took the bag, the mime continued to jokingly chastise him for not taking cognizance that his wife needed help in the first place. The comedic exchange ended with the mime patting the woman on the back and gesturing for her to give him a call as the family walked off.

What Was First a Hilarious Exchange Turned into an Important Wider Commentary on Society
What started as a comedic exchange -- in which a mime was simply trying to make light of the all-too-frequent occurrence of father's not helping mother's out when it comes to babies -- turned into an outpouring of comments supporting the mime for attempting to break the status quo. When the video made its way around TikTok, a plethora of messages critiquing how lazy the dad was for not helping his wife surfaced:
"Good [job] to the mime. Lazy dad. Help out your woman."

Once the laughter died down, men and women alike came to a consensus about how terrible the scene looked. For many, the video began to represent a broader, dangerous rhetoric of society that denotes women to be the ones expected to take care of everything to do with the household, including child-rearing:
"I see this all the time in my life. The women are clearly doing the most, and the husband[s] are just having the most relaxing time ever."

Many were disappointed to see how it took a mime to make a joke out of something fundamentally wrong to garner attention to a toxic pattern within the wider society. TikTok viewers also praised the mime's chivalric actions, despite him simply doing what the father should have thought to do in the first place.
Others commented on how the husband's reaction appeared as though the whole ordeal may have angered him. In their commentary, many took note of how the husband was probably mad because he got publicly shamed when he was called out for being wrong in front of a larger crowd.
Despite the video that went viral on TikTok dividing viewers of differing opinions, the Tzenevrakis cleared up what was really going on in that brief moment.

The Couple at SeaWorld Had No Idea That the Video They Were in Went Viral
The video, which accumulated nearly 13 million views and over 24,000 comments on TikTok, went unnoticed by Michelle and Nick, despite them being the stars of the widescale sensation.
The couple didn't even have any idea that they were being filmed in the first place, and they only learned about it when a family friend gave them a ring to announce that they were going viral across the internet. While being interviewed by Today, papa Nick disclosed how he felt about the experience:
"That mime totally caught me off guard. At that moment, I was in a total daze [because] I was really hungry, and my feet were hurting me. I thought it was pretty funny."
As a juxtaposition to the comments hurling anger toward Nick, some viewers of the video found themselves defending him as a father. At the same time, many questioned Nick's parenting ability, just as many were quick to come to his defense and put forward justifications for other possible scenarios, which led to Michelle carrying both the baby and the heavy bag.
Feeling as though Nick was being unfairly treated and misjudged, some suggested that it was a possibility that Michelle had just picked up the bag to carry. Additionally, many felt it was unfair for people to make assumptions about what may be going on in their marriage based on a 24-second clip.
Similarly, when Michelle was asked about the video, she shared the same sentiment as the people who defended her husband. According to the mom, viewers only got to see a brief moment in their happy lives as a family and as a couple:
"Nick is the greatest father, and I want to make sure that people know that. He does so much for us. He's just awesome in every way."
Despite the video that went viral on TikTok dividing viewers of differing opinions, the Tzenevrakis cleared up what was really going on in that brief moment. The story teaches everyone a lesson about how easy it is to assume something from a fleeting snapshot of one moment in time without knowing the whole back story.
