A woman shared her wedding woes on Reddit to seek opinions about whether she went too far in punishing her future mother-in-law. The groom's mom meddled with a lot of things regarding the wedding, but when she tried to sabotage the bride's wedding gown, they decided to speak up.
A woman knew early on that her fiancé's mom disapproved of her. Throughout their four-year relationship, she'd always been cold.

No matter how much she tried to build a relationship with her fiancé's mom, it never worked. She didn't care about her son's girlfriend for years – until they began planning their wedding.
as soon as her mother-in-law discovered she was going to buy the dress, she expressed her distaste.

The Groom's Mom Finally Wanted to Be Involved
The couple agreed to pay for the majority of the wedding. The woman's parents contributed a bit, while the groom's parents refused to contribute at all.
Despite this fact, the groom's mom constantly gave her opinion as if she were paying for the wedding herself. She commented on the color palette, the menu, and the open bar, among many other things.

At one point, the couple grew sick of the demands. Each time the groom's mother commented, they'd make it clear that everything was under control.
One day, out of respect, the bride-to-be invited her future mother-in-law to go bridal dress shopping. They were accompanied by the bride's mother and a few of her close friends.

That day, the woman found the perfect dress for her. It was a mermaid-style dress with a deep low cut on the chest, but still modest enough to wear at a wedding.
The bride liked this particular dress because of the way it hugged her hourglass figure. It made her feel beautiful.

However, as soon as her mother-in-law discovered she was going to buy the dress, she expressed her distaste.
"This is a wedding, not a strip club! I don't like it."

Despite the comments, the bride-to-be bought the dress anyway. She thought it'd been settled until, one day, she received a call from the bridal shop.
"Last night, my fiancé and I [were] cleaning up after dinner, and I received a call from the shop I ordered my dress from. They were calling me concerned because, apparently, a lady (my MIL) called then pretending to be me," she revealed.

The sales associate revealed that a woman called pretending to be her, asking to switch the dress to something more appropriate. The associate realized it wasn't her because of the caller ID, so she made the call to verify before they changed the order.
The woman was furious. Her fiancé heard the entire thing and was equally angered. Without hesitation, the man called his mother up to confront her about what she did.

Finally, after some pushing, she admitted that she called the dress shop pretending to be the woman so she could change the dress. Instead of apologizing, she insisted on her demands.
At that point, the woman told her future mother-in-law that if she didn't agree with her choice of wedding dress, she could consider herself uninvited to the wedding. Then, she hung up.
After the call, the groom's mom was upset. She continued to call the couple, trying to defend herself, but the bride wouldn't have it.
On the other hand, she feels for her fiancé, who was looking forward to his mother-and-son dance at the wedding. Because of this, she was torn.
People on Reddit supported her decision but clarified that it should have been a mutual decision between her and her future husband. They urged her to talk to him about it or to postpone the wedding until they'd decided on something that suited both of them.
If you were in the woman's shoes, what would you have done? Do you think she was right to uninvite her mother-in-law?
