10 Signs Your Grandkids Are Lucky to Have a Granny like You
Grandparents are some of the most special people in a child's life. However, it's common for grandparents to feel like they need to do more for the precious little people they call grandchildren.
Although you may not feel like you're always the best grandparent, your grandchildren likely regard you as one of the best people in their lives. You may even take first place when it comes to this.
It can be challenging to know if you're doing the right thing by your grandchildren, especially if nobody tells you what a good job you're doing. However, you're probably doing a much better job than you think.

If you're someone who doesn't know whether or not they're doing the best they can for their grandchildren, we've compiled a list of ten signs your grandchildren are lucky to have you in their lives.
They Can Count on You
When a child feels vulnerable or scared or needs to vent about their day, you can count on the fact that you're a fantastic grandparent if you're the first person they turn to for advice or help.

Being this person for your grandchild allows them to be children and form experiences without tackling things alone.
You're Patient with Them
In today's fast-paced world, it can be difficult for children to turn to grownups for something and expect patience in return. If you are patient with your grandchildren during even the most difficult times, they likely feel you're one of the best people in their lives.

Even though their parents and maybe even other authority figures may not be patient with them, if you are, you've won the battle for their hearts, as they will appreciate the calm way you approach them.
They Miss You When You're Away
For many young children, out of sight, out of mind is a concept that rules their worlds. However, if your grandchildren tell you they miss you when you're away, they're lucky to have a grandparent worth missing.

Seeing your grandchild after a while might be one of the most rewarding things you can experience. If they feel the same way, you can rest assured that they feel as lucky to have you as you feel to have them.
You're Generous
It can be challenging to feel you're being generous if you feel you can't provide material treats. However, generosity could be sharing the last cookie with your grandchild, which would make them very lucky.
If you can spoil your grandchildren with material things, that's great. However, it takes little to win them over. All you need to do is show them you consider them before you consider yourself.
They Can't Imagine Their Lives Without You
Many children can quickly adapt to any situation and make the best of anything that happens to them. However, if they have a grandparent whom they do not believe they can live without, they can count themselves lucky.

Being around you is one of the best things for your grandchildren, and if they can't imagine their lives without you, you should know that they value every second they spend with you.
You Provide Unconditional Love
While there will be people in your grandchild's life who will love them only if they do things for that person, a grandparent's love tends to be unconditional. Your grandbabies are blessed to have you if you provide unconditional love.
Most times, when you provide your grandchildren with unconditional love, they will give you the same thing in return, knowing yours is an embrace of acceptance and understanding.
They Want to Impress You
Approval is vital for children; they love knowing they have done something right. If your grandchild seeks your support or wants to impress you, they're lucky to have someone whose approval matters so much.

When your grandchildren ask you to watch them do tricks or show off an excellent school grade to you, all they're doing is exhibiting how lucky they are to have someone to celebrate their impressive feats with.
You're Resilient
While children tend to be fragile and vulnerable, they're lucky if they have a grandparent who is resilient. If you're resilient, you're likely to be able to help your grandchildren through even the most difficult times.
It can be challenging to be resilient in the face of adversity. Still, when your grandchildren see you exhibiting even the tiniest shred of resilience, they will know who to model their behavior after.
They Would Pick Your Food Over A Restaurant
If your children prefer your homecooked meals to eat out at a fancy restaurant, they're lucky to have a grandparent who can whip up their favorite snack or meal anytime the fancy strikes them.
Next time you're standing over a hot stove and thinking how much you'd prefer to be watching a movie, remember that your grandchildren likely dream about your food when they're away.
You're Wise
One thing that tends to come with age is wisdom. When your grandchildren turn to you for advice, they are lucky to know you have the knowledge to help bring them out of a sticky situation.

Although you may not always have the answers they need, a child will turn to you for love and guidance because, as Hopal Green said:
"There is no other love that's as special as the love of a grandma."
While some grandparents may not display the above signs, some go above and beyond, like a woman who saved her grandson's life as her final act. Read her full story here.
