It all began in August 2014 when the woman said she won in a lottery. She and her husband, Mike, tied the knot just a couple of months later, in October. While the prize wasn't a life-changing fortune, it amounted to about $480,000 after taxes, enough to make a significant difference.

A Life-Changing Day

Fast forward to the day the woman posted her story on Reddit; everything was pretty ordinary while she prepared dinner and washed the dishes. Soon afterward, her phone rang, but she couldn't answer it right away. Then a text message followed, but she figured she would get back to it in a minute. However, at that moment, something unexpected happened.

"[My] husband came into the kitchen and glanced at my phone to let me know who [texted] me and called me (which he always does if my hands are full)," revealed the woman."
