Nicole Kidman Faces Backlash over 'Uncombed' Hair at the Governors Awards – Photo

Nicole Kidman's appearance has been scrutinized by online users yet again. However, this time, the reason has to do with something other than her face.

Exuding effortless glamor in a black ensemble, Hollywood star Nicole Kidman had all eyes on her during the 15th Governors Awards in Hollywood on November 17. Social media users fixated on and criticized her hair, with some wondering if the star even brushed it.

For the star-studded affair, Kidman donned an eye-catching black gown draped to the floor.

The stylish off-the-shoulders, long-sleeved dress featured a bedazzled collar, a slight chest cutout, and a daring asymmetrical slit that exposed the "Babygirl" actress' right leg.

The gown's backless design matched its bejeweled collar, adding extra flair to the already striking outfit she paired with closed-toe black heels. Kidman kept her accessories simple, which included two rings and sparkling earrings.

Her hair hung loose over her shoulder and down her back and her face was adorned with light makeup, including pink lipstick. In addition to appearing solo on the carpet, Kidman was spotted posing alongside fellow industry heavy hitter Demi Moore.

Like Kidman's gown, Moore's dress was also black, but it was strapless and had a drape effect. She accessorized with stunning dangling diamond earrings and a statement diamond choker.

A video taken at the event showed the two stars side by side as they smiled at the flashing cameras. Netizens who saw photos of Kidman did not hold back with their criticisms, especially where her hair was concerned.

Reddit users also weighed in on the hair discussion, with one of them expressing, "I think the hair is throwing it off for me. Like she just woke up and threw the dress on."

Responding to this comment, another agreed, "This comment is spot on. It's not sexy tousled hair, it's just messy kinda frizzy hair. It's jarring with an otherwise sleek and elegant look."

Adding to the mix, a fellow Reddit user remarked, "I wish she'd bring back her curls." "Would've loved a classic French knot," added someone else.

Causing an online commotion with her looks is nothing new for Nicole Kidman, who has frequently been at the center of public discourse. In fact, it wasn't too long ago that she sparked critical comments concerning her appearance at the Season 2 premiere of "Lioness" in Los Angeles.

On October 24, Entertainment Tonight shared a video of Kidman engaging with a reporter while on the red carpet at the event.

For the occasion, the "Eyes Wide Shut" talent donned an elegant white halter-neck top and a pouffy yellow, silver, and white skirt, which she paired with stunning, dangling earrings and white heels.

She sported a middle parting and pulled back her blonde locks which fell loosely on her back. Footage showed the interviewer asking Kidman how she debriefed and had fun after filming an "intense project."

"I would go for a walk; I would go see movies," revealed the actress, who was also asked if she went to an AMC, which she confirmed she did.

More back-and-forth banter ensued, with Kidman disclosing how she would hide her face in the theater whenever she saw herself onscreen.

However, social media users were less fussed about what she had to say, and instead, diverted their focus to Kidman's appearance, especially where her face was concerned.

Many believe that she has undergone too many facial enhancement surgeries. "She should leave her face alone," opined a Facebooker while someone else noted, "I didn't recognise [sic] her."

Agreeing with the aforementioned sentiments while referencing their disdain for Kidman's hairstyle, an Instagrammer penned, "She needs to not wear her hair like that anymore since all the plastic surgery."

"OMG her face 😆," remarked a spectator. Commenting on both the stiffness they noticed in Kidman's visage and her voice, a netizen stated, "Face does not move one little bit. Accent has changed somewhat too."

"Wow 😮 too much filler and botox," observed a social media user, who had seen another video of Kidman at the same event gushing over her eldest daughter's runway debut. Another echoed, "Full of filler."

On the other hand, some people noticed something off about Kidman's ears. "Her earlobes?" questioned a confused user. Referencing other celebrities while commenting on the actress' ears, someone else said, "They all look the same nowadays. But look at her earlobes 😮."

The buzz concerning the public's belief that Kidman has enhanced her facial features is nothing new, as "The Perfect Couple" star has been dealing with such rumors for a while.

Years ago, while speaking with Marie Claire, Kidman addressed such opinions by clarifying that, contrary to popular belief, she has never enhanced her face.

"To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don't smoke. I take care of myself. And I'm very proud to say that," confirmed the actress. She also set the record straight on whether she has used Botox or not, which she said she hadn't.

In the same interview, Kidman made it clear that while she has never gotten any enhancement work done, she does not judge others for doing so.

She also mentioned, "I personally believe in physical health because of the way I was raised. I can't go in the sun; I'm fair-skinned. That was a nightmare when I was a kid, but it has some benefits now. It's that simple."

Kidman agreed and divulged, "I mean, when you look at the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category at the Emmys this year, most, or all, of the women are over 40. That's unbelievable. I think it's also women who are supporting other women."

She also stressed the importance of women building strong support systems and divulged some of the things she likes to do that help keep her confidence up. "I like to work out. I do something physical every day and I have to get outside [...] And my favorite thing is to swim!" shared Kidman.
