Chad Lowe and Kim Painter’s Daughter Fiona Dies at 13, Family Releases Statement

A Hollywood family is grieving after losing one of its youngest members far too soon. Fans have since rallied around the loved ones left behind, sending an outpouring of love and support.

"Pretty Little Liars" alum Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter's daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died at 13. The couple announced the devastating news in a statement, which came less than two months before the teen's 14th birthday.

"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," Chad and Kim began in their message, shared on Tuesday, September 29. The couple remembered Fiona as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."

"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," the family said, adding, "In fact, she was the light of our lives."

"Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988," the statement concluded.

Chad, 58, and Kim, 52, welcomed Fiona on November 16, 2012. She was the middle of the couple's three daughters, with eldest Mabel Painter now 17 and youngest Nixie Barbara now 10.

Last year, Chad marked Fiona's entry into her teenage years with a sweet Instagram tribute. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" he captioned a photo of her. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."

At the time, the comments section overflowed with birthday wishes and kind words from fans. As of this writing, the same post has been flooded once again, this time with messages of condolence and support following Fiona's untimely death.

"Oh sweet Fiona. I am so sorry darling girl. My heart is broken for all of you. Sending so much love. 💔," one person wrote. "I cannot begin to imagine your pain. So very sorry," another shared.

"Rest in peace beautiful girl💔. I'm so sorry the world wasn't kinder to you, sweet angel. I hope you're smiling and dancing wherever you are now. 🕊️🤍," a third said. "Keep on dancing in heaven Fiona 😢 I'm so sorry for your incredible pain 💔 xxx," someone else added.

Fans also left heartfelt messages across several of Chad's recent posts.

"I know my words probably feel meaningless for the loss of Fiona. I just know my heart is with you and your family tonight Chad. ❤️," one follower shared. "My heart aches for you, your wife and your daughters right now. Sending love and prayers 🙏🙏," another said.

The heartbreaking news follows an already difficult period for the family.

In early 2025, they lost their home in the Pacific Palisades Fire, and in February of that year, Chad revealed that they had returned to see what remained of the house where all three girls grew up.

"Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what's left of their home," he wrote in an Instagram post at the time.

He continued, "The way they've handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life's greatest joy and privilege ⭐️⭐️⭐️."
