Boy's Mom Asks Me to Change My Daughter's Lunches as They Disgust Her Son

A mom took to Reddit to share the unpleasant encounter she had with a fellow mom at her daughter's school. She enjoys cooking Asian food for dinner, and her daughter loves her cooking. So, the 38-year-old would pack her 7-year-old daughter Lily's lunches using the same viands.

Like many other busy moms, she'd often give her daughter some leftovers from dinner, along with fruit or vegetables. She'd prepare a bento box for her before they went to school.

One day, her daughter asked if she could play in the school playground before heading home. The mom agreed and waited alongside another mom named Debra.

A Fellow Mom Confronted Her While in School

While waiting, Debra suddenly started talking to her. She asked the woman if she was Lily's mom. When she said she was, the woman started berating her about the food she prepared for Lily.

Debra explained that her son had been complaining about Lily's lunches because they always came with a bad smell. He thought Lily's food was "disgusting."

Because of the smell, Debra's son reportedly couldn't finish his lunch because he'd lose his appetite from the scent. Annoyed, Lily's mom shrugged and asked whether she could tell her son to sit someplace else. Then, Debra snapped:

"Are you kidding me? My son shouldn’t have to put up with whatever crap you make your daughter bring to this school. It’s disgusting!"

Debra Started Disrespecting Her Fellow Mom

At this point, Debra was making racist comments. The mother wouldn't have it and decided to stand up for herself and Lily. "I'm not changing what's in my daughter's lunches because you and your kid don’t want to exist near Asian food. [Expletive] off," she told the mom.

Offended, Debra stormed off with her son. Soon after, Lily finished playing, and they headed home as well. That night, the mom couldn't stop thinking about what happened.

She told her husband about it, and her husband said it might have been too harsh that she said an expletive to a fellow mom, as this mom may cause trouble for them in the future. She asked people on the internet whether what she did was wrong.

"It's none of their business what your daughter eats for lunch - it's not like you're forcing her kid to eat it," another echoed.

Other suggested for the school officials to get involved. They urged the mom to do things the right way by getting teachers involved. That way, her daughter's interactions with Debra's son remain monitored.

"Op, I would contact the school and your kids teacher and let them know, at point I think the Debra son is sitting near Op’s daughter cause he likes bullying her about her lunch. Maybe a teacher intervention could prevent further harassment," one suggested.
