Sky Bri and Jake's rumored romance began after Jake had reportedly split from his girlfriend, Instagram model Julia Rose, in December 2022. In a January 2023 "No Jumper Clips" interview, Sky Bri explained how she and the boxer met.

In the interview, Sky Bri revealed she knew Jake Paul from before. She recalled that he contacted her shortly after breaking up with Julia and expressed interest in her. He then flew her and her friend out to Puerto Rico.

Their encounter quickly unfolded, and Sky Bri found it intriguing. She claimed that Jake seemed to have used her for "revenge" and "rebound" following his breakup with his girlfriend. Sky Bri said:

"I knew that's what it was, but also he made it a point he wanted to be very mutually beneficial like you're gonna run with this, you can post about it, get the clout from it whatever, and I'm gonna probably make Julia mad, and like get like the revenge that I need so it was very mutual."

During their trip to Puerto Rico, Sky Bri got the boxer's name tattooed on her neck. Jake proposed the idea of them both getting each other's names tattooed, and they both agreed to it.
