The late and great Matthew Perry was a revered icon in Tinseltown, who was beloved by all whom he knew and the countless fans he garnered during his years gracing the silver screen. Many knew the acting legend from his incredible run as everybody's favorite Chandler Bing on the hit classic series "Friends."
While on the popular show, Perry and his fellow co-stars developed close bonds with each other that went beyond co-starring on TV together. One of those bonds was between Perry and famous actress Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), who shared an extremely tight-knit relationship.
Cox was such good friends with Perry that she was one of the people privy to the details surrounding his addiction battles. In a previous interview, she briefly touched on the issue and divulged:
"He's just struggled for a while. I think he's doing great now."
More than just a good friend of hers, Perry was also someone Cox was highly inspired by. While previously talking about her show "Cougar Town," where Perry made a cameo in one of the episodes, she boasted about how she would even take acting cues from the deceased icon and mimic some of his actions on the "Friends" set for character development.
As an actor, Cox admired him and expressed how she loved that Perry used what he was going through and his vulnerability to make his roles relatable to people. While speaking about her well-respected late friend, Cox gushed about how much she liked Perry's "ability to show very raw emotion and make close connections with his audience."
Perry also adored Cox in turn and previously labeled the iconic moment when Geller and Bing got married as the pinnacle of his time on "Friends" and his career. Sadly, at that time, he had been taken back to a treatment facility.

The late "17 Again" star also found Cox incredibly stunning. In his book, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," he talked about the actress, referring to her as "...so beautiful...cripplingly beautiful."

Naturally, having shared such a great relationship, when the "Scream" star heard the news of Perry's passing, she was crushed. While remembering their beloved co-star, on behalf of the "Friends" cast and himself, the very first director of the series, James Burrows, expressed:
"I texted the girls the day we found out, and they were—they were destroyed, it's a brother dying."

After tragedy hit and the world stood still over Perry's untimely death, new information about the star's chivalrous ways came out. On "Friends," there was supposed to be a scene where Perry's character ends up cheating on Cox's character after the two get into a big fight.

According to sources -- including the actress Perry was going to engage in the scandal with -- a hotel staffer brings room service to Perry, and the two hit it off and engage in an affair. However, Perry managed to get the scene scrapped from the show, and the actress, Lisa Cash, stayed on to play a flight attendant instead. Of the ordeal, Cash stated:
"We had rehearsed it and everything, and then the day before we were shooting in front of a live audience, I was told that Chandler went to the writers and said that the audience will never forgive him for cheating on Monica, which, he was probably right..."
Cash went on to say how pleasant it was getting to work with Perry nonetheless and reiterated how likable and welcoming the actor was. Many continue to send condolences as they mourn such a significant loss and incredible talent.
