Because of a happy coincidence, my mother came to see her grandchildren, so I was able to leave without worries.

After a while, the car stopped at a house, and I met the owner in the midst of the luxurious interior of his mansion. He was a man with a stern face, and he seemed to be assessing me. But soon, his face was lightened by a bright smile, and he revealed to me that all the money in the world could not replace the photo of his beloved daughter that he always carried in his wallet. His beloved daughter lived on the other side of the planet and they see each other very rarely. After his story, he surprised me with an unexpected proposal.

He wanted to repay my honesty and the fact that I was able to protect such an important photograph from loss. I was uncomfortable with his offer of a financial reward, but I could not refuse it. That would doom my family to starve. So I accepted and was even more pleased when I heard his offer to work for him under much better conditions and salary than my current job at that point.

My heart was pounding with a mixture of emotions — relief and gratitude. My answer came quickly. This day will forever remain in my memories as the one in which my moral values and correct decisions helped change my life for the better.
